Background: Stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) is emerging as a potential local treatment option for oligometastatic RCC. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of SABR in patients with oligorecurrent RCC.
Methods: A total of 50 patients with histologically confirmed RCC underwent SABR for oligorecurrence between 2006 and 2022.
Background: Oligometastases in mediastinal nodes are increasingly prevalent, posing challenges for treatment with stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) due to proximity to organs at risk (OARs). We report the results of a single prospective observational phase II trial on ablative SBRT for medically inoperable thoracic nodes metastases (NCT02970955).
Material And Methods: Since 2017, patients with < 3 nodal metastases were evaluated by the tumor board and included if deemed inoperable.
Background And Purpose: To report mature results for local control and survival in oligometastatic (OM) breast cancer patients treated with stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) on lung and/or liver lesions in a phase II trial.
Methods: This is a prospective non-randomized phase II trial (NCT02581670) which enrolled patients from 2015 to 2021. Eligibility criteria included: age > 18 years, ECOG 0-2, diagnosis of breast cancer, maximum of 4 lung/liver lesions (with a maximum diameter < 5 cm), metastatic disease confined to the lungs and liver or extrapulmonary or extrahepatic disease stable or responding to systemic therapy.
Background: In 2016 we published a phase II study exploring safety and efficacy of Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) delivered with Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) and Flattening Filter Free (FFF) beams techniques in prostate cancer (PC) patients. We present herein the updated results on late toxicity and long-term survival.
Methods: Patients enrolled in the study had a biopsy-confirmed localized PC and the features of a low- or intermediate-risk disease (National Comprehensive Network Criteria).
Aims: The definition of oligometastatic prostate cancer (OPCa) is currently based solely on the maximum number of detectable metastases, as there are no validated biomarkers available. The aim of this study was to identify novel predictive factors for OPCa patients who underwent metastases-directed therapy.
Materials And Methods: This monocentre, retrospective study included consecutive OPCa patients with a maximum of five metastases in up to two organs, detected with choline- or PSMA-positron emission tomography, who were treated with metastases-directed stereotactic body radiation therapy.
Background: The endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a technically demanding and time-consuming procedure, with an increased risk of adverse events compared to standard endoscopic resection techniques. The main difficulties are related to the instability of the operating field and to the loss of traction. We aimed to evaluate in a pilot trial a new endoscopic platform [tissue retractor system (TRS); ORISE, Boston scientific Co.

In this review, we provided a thorough description of the applications of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the HNC RT process.
Methods: The PubMed database was queried, and a total of 168 articles (2016-2022) were screened by a group of experts in radiation oncology.
Background: Radiotherapy is essential in the management of head-neck cancer. During the course of radiotherapy, patients may develop significant anatomical changes. Re-planning with adaptive radiotherapy may ensure adequate dose coverage and sparing of organs at risk.

Methods: A total of 120 BMRCC patients with a total of 176 lesions treated were evaluated. Patients received surgery plus postoperative HSRS, single-fraction SRS, or hypofractionated SRS (HSRS).
Background: Prediction of survival and radiation therapy response is challenging in head and neck cancer with metastatic lymph nodes (LNs). Here we developed novel radiomics- and clinical-based predictive models.
Methods: Volumes of interest of LNs were employed for radiomic features extraction.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most frequent liver malignancy and a leading cause of cancer death in the world. In unresectable HCC patients, transcatheter arterial (chemo-) embolization (TAE/TACE) has shown a disease response in 15-55% of cases. Though multiple TAE/TACE courses can be administered in principle, Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) has emerged as an alternative option in the case of local relapse following multiple TAE/TACE courses.

Nevertheless, one-fourth of colorectal neoplasms are still missed during colonoscopy, potentially being the main reason for post-colonoscopy colorectal cancer (PCCRC). Adenoma detection rate (ADR) is currently known as the best quality indicator correlating with PCCRC incidence.

Systemic therapy represents the standard of care for metastatic patients, but stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) may play a relevant role in the oligoprogressive setting, defined as the progression of few metastases during an ongoing systemic therapy on a background of otherwise stable disease. Aim of the present study was to analyze the outcome of RCC patients treated with SABR on oligoprogressive metastases.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOligoprogression is defined as limited metastatic clone resistant to on-going systemic treatment that grows in a background of stable or responding systemic disease. Aim of the present study was to analyze oligoprogressive prostate cancer (PC) patients treated with stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) during systemic treatment to identify predictive factors and improve patients' selection. We included PC patients treated with SBRT on a maximum of 3 sites of oligoprogression during systemic therapy.

Materials And Methods: A total of 157 patients were investigated and radiomics features extracted from the contrast-free treatment planning CT series. Three volumes were segmented: the prostate gland only (CTV_p), the prostate gland with seminal vesicles (CTV_psv), and the seminal vesicles only (CTV_sv).
Aims: Due to the absence of consensus on metastases-directed treatment in kidney cancer, we conducted an analysis of patients treated with stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) on cranial or extracranial metastases to classify them in survival class risk according to pre-treatment characteristics.
Materials And Methods: We included oligometastatic kidney cancer patients treated with SRT on up to five metastases. Concomitant systemic treatment was allowed.
Background: Computer-aided detection (CADe) techniques based on artificial intelligence algorithms can assist endoscopists in detecting colorectal neoplasia. CADe has been associated with an increased adenoma detection rate, a key quality indicator, but the utility of CADe compared with existing advanced imaging techniques and distal attachment devices is unclear.
Methods: For this systematic review and network meta-analysis, we did a comprehensive search of PubMed/Medline, Embase, and Scopus databases from inception to Nov 30, 2020, for randomised controlled trials investigating the effectiveness of the following endoscopic techniques in detecting colorectal neoplasia: CADe, high definition (HD) white-light endoscopy, chromoendoscopy, or add-on devices (ie, systems that increase mucosal visualisation, such as full spectrum endoscopy [FUSE] or G-EYE balloon endoscopy).
Introduction: Multiple therapeutic modalities including surgery and rigid and flexible endoscopy have been adopted to manage Zenker's diverticulum (ZD). Minimally invasive flexible endoscopic septotomy (FES) techniques have been increasingly favored over the past 20 years; however, long-term data are still scanty. The aim of this study is to evaluate early and long-term outcomes of FES for naive ZD in a single-center setting.

To which extent this effect may be related to physician experience is not known. We performed a randomised trial with colonoscopists in their qualification period (AID-2) and compared these data with a previously published randomised trial in expert endoscopists (AID-1).

Since colonoscopy and polypectomy were introduced, Colorectal Cancer (CRC) incidence and mortality decreased significantly. Although we have entered the era of quality measurement and improvement, literature shows that a considerable amount of colorectal neoplasia is still missed by colonoscopists up to 25%, leading to an high rate of interval colorectal cancer that account for nearly 10% of all diagnosed CRC. Two main reasons have been recognised: recognition failure and mucosal exposure.
