Background: Several studies show an increase in complications, both cardiac and non-cardiac, and a higher mortality in patients with preexisting cardiac disease when they undergo elective surgery. Systems of correlated particles appear in many fields of modern science and represent some of the most intractable computational problems in nature. The computational challenge in these systems arises when interactions become comparable to other energy scales, which makes the state of each particle depend on all other particles. The lack of general solutions for the three-body problem and acceptable theory for strongly correlated electrons shows that our understanding of correlated systems fades when the particle number or the interaction strength increases.

Francis McMechan, MD, founded the National Anesthesia Research Society (NARS), which was the precursor to the International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) and the first physician anesthesia organization in the United States that was devoted to the research goals of the specialty. NARS initially sponsored Current Researches in Anesthesia and Analgesia, and IARS remains the main parent organization of the journal to this day. Terahertz emission from ferromagnetic/non-magnetic spintronic heterostructures had been demonstrated as pump wavelength-independent. We report, however, the pump wavelength dependence of terahertz emission from an optimized Fe/Pt spintronic bilayer on MgO substrate. Interlayer excitons (ILXs) - electron-hole pairs bound across two atomically thin layered semiconductors - have emerged as attractive platforms to study exciton condensation, single-photon emission and other quantum information applications. Yet, despite extensive optical spectroscopic investigations, critical information about their size, valley configuration and the influence of the moiré potential remains unknown. Granulomatous mastitis (GM) is an underdiagnosed and understudied benign inflammatory disease of the breast whose accurate diagnosis is confounded by mimicry of other breast pathologies (infectious mastitis and abscess, malignancy) and limited clinician knowledge of the disease. GM disproportionately affects minority women, furthering health disparities for a demographic already disadvantaged in the care of breast diseases. The first step in diagnosis is ultrasound followed by core needle biopsy yielding granulomatous inflammation.
