The Dutch guidelines for esophageal and gastro-esophageal junction (GEJ) cancer recommend discussion of patients by a multidisciplinary tumor board (MDT). Despite this recommendation, one previous study in the Netherlands suggested that therapeutic guidance was missing for palliative care of patients with esophageal cancer. The aim of the current study was therefore to assess the impact of an MDT discussion on initial palliative treatment and outcome of patients with esophageal or GEJ cancer.

Unlabelled: We present the case of a patient who developed a liver abscess following screening colonoscopy. A colorectal screening program was introduced in the Netherlands in 2014 in order to reduce mortality from colorectal cancer. The patient in this report, a 63-year-old man with no significant medical history, underwent polypectomy of two polyps.

Objectives: Electromagnetic (EM)-guided bedside placement of nasoenteral feeding tubes by nurses may improve efficiency and reduce patient discomfort and costs compared with endoscopic placement by gastroenterologists. Various treatments are available for the palliation of esophageal cancer, but the optimal therapeutic approach is unclear. This study aimed to assess the palliative treatment modalities used in patients with inoperable esophageal cancer and to identify factors associated with treatment decisions. Background: Gastroparesis is common in surgical patients and frequently leads to the need for enteral tube feeding. Small bowel carcinoma mimicking a relapse of Crohn's disease: a case series.

We describe three patients diagnosed and treated for presumed (relapsing) Crohn's disease, but who were subsequently diagnosed with a small bowel carcinoma. This case series underlines the necessity of performing a full work up in the diagnosis of CD and to consider small bowel carcinoma in patients with small bowel CD failing medical therapy.

[Liver cirrhosis due to hepatitis E in a kidney transplant patient].

Until recently, hepatitis E was considered to be an infectious disease that resolved without any long-term complications. We describe a 47-year-old woman who presented with a decompensated liver cirrhosis with ascites and peripheral oedema, 14 years after successful kidney transplantation. A previous extensive analysis of persistent liver enzyme disorders had not yielded a diagnosis, whereas now laboratory tests showed slightly abnormal liver results.

Clozapine is an antipsychotic drug which is used in the treatment of therapy-resistant schizophrenia. The most frequently reported side effects (occurring in more than 10% of patients) are gastro-intestinal complaints, including constipation. Here we describe the case of a 28-year-old man with schizophrenia who developed constipation and abdominal distension for several weeks while taking clozapine.

Methods: Thirty-four patients with anal sphincter damage after delivery, 22 with and 12 without anorectal complaints, and 12 controls without anorectal complaints underwent anal endosonography, manometry, and rectal sensitivity testing. Complaints were assessed by questionnaire, with a median follow-up of 19 years.
