Assessment of heavy metal contamination in groundwater and its implications for dental and public health.

Groundwater contamination with heavy metals is a critical environmental issue, especially in regions heavily reliant on groundwater for drinking purpose. These metals can seep into groundwater from soil and rock weathering or through improper disposal of industrial waste and effluents. Access to safe drinking water is essential for maintaining public health.

Effect of Cooling of Lidocaine with Epinephrine on the Anesthetic Success of Supplementary Intraligamentary Injection after a Failed Primary Inferior Alveolar Nerve Block: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Objective: The purpose of this prospective, randomized clinical trial was to evaluate the effect of cooling a 2% lidocaine solution with 1: 200,000 epinephrine, administered as a supplementary intraligamentary injection to overcome a failed primary inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB).

Methods: The study was preceded by a pilot study to evaluate the anesthetic efficacy of plain lidocaine solutions given as intraligamentary injections. In the subsequent randomized clinical trial, one hundred and thirty-eight patients received IANB with 2% lidocaine with 1: 80,000 epinephrine for endodontic man- agement of a mandibular molar with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis.

Addition of 2 mg dexamethasone to improve the anesthetic efficacy of 2% lidocaine with 1:80,000 epinephrine administered for inferior alveolar nerve block to patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis in the mandibular molars: a randomized double-blind clinical trial.

Introduction: This clinical trial aimed to evaluate the anesthetic effect of the addition of 2 mg (4 mg/ml) of dexamethasone to 2% lidocaine (plain or with 1:80,000 epinephrine). The solutions were injected for a primary inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) to provide mandibular anesthesia for the endodontic treatment of mandibular molars with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis.

Methods: In a double-blinded setup, 124 patients randomly received either of the following injections: 2% lidocaine with 1:80,000 epinephrine, 2% lidocaine with 1:80,000 epinephrine mixed with 2 mg dexamethasone, or plain 2% lidocaine mixed with 2 mg dexamethasone, which were injected as a primary IANB.

Preoperative Intraligamentary Injection of Dexamethasone Can Improve the Anesthetic Success Rate of 2% Lidocaine during the Endodontic Management of Mandibular Molars with Symptomatic Irreversible Pulpitis.

Introduction: The aim of this randomized, double-blind clinical trial was to evaluate the effect of preoperative administration of intraligamentary injections of diclofenac sodium and dexamethasone on the anesthetic efficacy of 2% lidocaine given as an inferior alveolar nerve block in the endodontic management of symptomatic irreversible pulpitis.

Methods: One hundred seventeen patients randomly received 1 of the 3 intraligamentary injections before the endodontic treatment: 0.9% normal saline, 25 mg/mL diclofenac sodium, or 4 mg/mL dexamethasone.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a polygenic metabolic disease described by hyperglycemia, which is caused by insulin resistance or reduced insulin secretion. The interaction between various genetic variants and environmental factors triggers T2DM. The aim of this study was to find risk associated with genetic variants rs5210 and rs2237895 of KCNJ11 and KCNQ1 genes, respectively, in the development of T2DM in the Indian population.

Role of FTO and MC4R Polymorphisms in Escalating Obesity and Their Indirect Association With Risk of T2D in Indian Population.

Introduction: Obesity plays a pivotal role in the development of metabolic syndrome-excessive body fat, spikes in blood glucose levels and hypertension-and ultimately leads to cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes (T2D), if left unattended. The present study aimed to investigate the associated risk of T2D with obesity risk alleles of fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) and melanocortin 4 receptor (MC4R) genes.

Full-mouth rehabilitation with immediate loading basal implants: A case report.

The aim of this article was to study a case report of full mouth rehabilitation in a severally periodontally compromised patient in which 18 single piece basal implants were inserted and functionally loaded with both maxillary and mandibular cement retained fixed partial denture. Basal implants were loaded immediately, and excellent results were obtained. Bone loss was measured and values were recorded immediately after implant placement and after 6 months.
