Background: We aimed to investigating the sex-specific and age-specific melanoma mortality trends observed on the territory of Serbia between 2000 and 2021.
Methods: This population-based study used data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia database during the period 2000-2021. The calculation of the gender and age-standardized rates (ASR) was performed.

Background: Measurements of transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and stratum corneum (SC) pH can help indicate work-related skin barrier damage, but sensitivity to confounding personal and ambient factors limits their potential as biomonitoring tools.
Objectives: To evaluate the difference between hand and forearm skin barrier conditions as a tool for early recognition of workers with occupational contact dermatitis.
Participants And Methods: The participants were nursing apprentices (N = 238, median age 19 years) from Zagreb, Croatia.
Aims: Natriuretic peptide (NP) uptake varies in Emergency Departments (EDs) across Europe. The 'Peptide for Life' (P4L) initiative, led by Heart Failure Association, aims to enhance NP utilization for early diagnosis of heart failure (HF). We tested the hypothesis that implementing an educational campaign in Western Balkan countries would significantly increase NP adoption rates in the ED.

The integration of experiences typically follows a hyperbolic, rather than exponential, decay pattern with a heavy tail for distant history. Hyperbolic integration affords sensitivity to both recent environmental dynamics and long-term trends.

Introduction: Snakebite incidence varies across Europe. However, there is limited research from Central and Southeastern Europe. These regions are notable for the presence of the common European adder () and the more venomous nose-horned viper ().

To objectively assess the skin barrier condition among physicians and dentists. This cross-sectional epidemiological study included an occupational questionnaire, medical examination of hand skin, skin transepidermal water loss (TEWL), and pH measurements, analyzed in 5 groups (N = 37 in each): physicians-nonsurgeons, physicians-surgeons, dentists-nonsurgeons, dentists-surgeons, and control group (unexposed workers).

Objectives: This meta-analysis brings comprehensive evaluation about still controversial association between the body mass index (BMI) and the outcomes of acute coronary syndrome.
Method: PubMed/ScienceDirect databases were systematically searched for studies with baseline parameters, primary (HF, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, reinfarction, stroke, death, total in-hospital complications) and secondary outcomes (reinfarction, stroke, death, total major adverse cardiovascular events [MACE]) in relation to BMI strictly classified into four groups (underweight [<18.
Sedentary lifestyle and obesity increase the risk of coronary disease (CAD). The aims of this prospective study were to estimate the trends in physical activity (PA) level, accuracy of the Baecke's/LRC-PA questionnaires, and trends in obesity parameters (body mass index-BMI/waist-to-hip ratio-WHR) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in the last two decades. We grouped 209 patients with ACS (UAP-unstable angina, STEMI-ST-elevation myocardial infarction, NSTEMI-non STEMI) by year of admission (Group 2002-05/Group 2017) and compared them by the levels of PA (Baecke's/LRC-PA questionnaires) and obesity parameters (BMI, WHR).

Methods: We collected data on all visits of patients with a cardiac chief complaint examined in the emergency departments of six hospitals nearest to the epicenters. Patients seen during the 7 days before the earthquake were compared with those seen on the day and during the 6 days after the earthquake.
Background: It is known that a large number of hairdressing apprentices (HA) develop occupational contact dermatitis (OCD) during schooling, but studies that address prevalence of contact sensitization in HAs with hand eczema are missing.
Objectives: To assess the prevalence, incidence rate and clinical characteristics of OCD, including contact sensitization, in a sample of Croatian HAs.
Materials And Methods: A total of 408 HAs from 25 Croatian towns were examined at the beginning of education and monitored at the end of each school year.
Impulsivity is a multidimensional heritable phenotype that broadly refers to the tendency to act prematurely and is associated with multiple forms of psychopathology, including substance use disorders. We performed genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of eight impulsive personality traits from the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale and the short UPPS-P Impulsive Personality Scale (N = 123,509-133,517 23andMe research participants of European ancestry), and a measure of Drug Experimentation (N = 130,684). Because these GWAS implicated the gene CADM2, we next performed single-SNP phenome-wide studies (PheWAS) of several of the implicated variants in CADM2 in a multi-ancestral 23andMe cohort (N = 3,229,317, European; N = 579,623, Latin American; N = 199,663, African American).

Research shows that insufficient concentration of vitamin D in the blood is found in 40-50% of the population. The total intake of vitamin D through food is very low, only 20% of the total daily needs.

The search for original papers published from 2000 to 2021 was performed in Medline, Web of Science, Cochrane registry, Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety of the European Commission and German MAK Commission opinions. Nine publications on genotoxicity of -phenylenediamine (PPD) and toluene-2,5-diamine (-toluylenediamine; PTD) were included, reporting results of 17 assays covering main genotoxicity endpoints.

Early risk assessment, especially for coronary artery disease, is crucial to starting therapeutic strategies to lower cardiovascular risk.
Objective: To assess cardiovascular risk in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Objectives: To review recent epidemiological studies investigating carcinogenic or reprotoxic effects among hairdressers who seem to be at greater risk for systemic adverse effects of chemicals released from hair care products than consumers.
Methods: A systematic review according to the PRISMA-P guidelines was performed and included studies published from 2000 to August 2021, in which cancer or adverse reproductive effects were diagnosed in 1995 and onward. Data were synthetized qualitatively due to the small number of studies, heterogeneity of study designs, outcomes, and methods.

The safety assessment of cosmetics considers the exposure of a 'common consumer', not the occupational exposure of hairdressers. This review aims to compile and appraise evidence regarding the skin toxicity of cysteamine hydrochloride (cysteamine HCl; CAS no. 156-57-0), polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP; CAS no.

In functional dyspepsia, unlike organic dyspepsia, there is no underlying organic disease that would cause dyspeptic symptoms. Immune and mucosal function changes, gastric dysmotility, different composition of the gastrointestinal microbiota, and altered central nervous system processing are considered responsible for the onset of the disorder.

Introduction: Exposure to hazardous chemicals released during hairdressing activities from hair care products puts hairdressers at risk of adverse health effects. Safety assessments of hair products are mainly focused on consumers, but exposure for professional hairdressers might be substantially higher.
Objective: To identify and assess available research data on inhalation exposures of professional hairdressers.

Objective: Chronic stress has been related to impaired body composition (bone, muscle, adipose tissue), and disturbed autonomic nervous system (ANS), the latter regulated by hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. Our objective was to investigate the relationship between salivary cortisol, body composition and heart rate variability (HRV-highly influenced by ANS), in a young student population.
Methods: Body composition and HRV parameters were measured using two portable devices based on multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance and photoplethysmography.

Objective: To review the literature on respiratory effects of persulfate salts (PS) or hair bleaches in hairdressers and animal models exploring mechanisms behind PS-induced asthma.
Methods: A systematic review according to the PRISMA guidelines was performed. Studies published from 2000 to July 2021 that fulfilled predefined eligibility criteria were retrieved.
