Article Synopsis
  • Mechanical wounding (MW) from factors like insects and weather triggers quick responses in plants, affecting their phytohormones and secondary metabolite levels.
  • The study focuses on Danshen (Salvia miltiorrhiza) to analyze how MW affects its metabolism, using techniques like qRT-PCR and LC-MS to track gene expression and metabolite changes over time.
  • Results show that MW increases the expression of jasmonate biosynthetic genes and the production of tanshinones, peaking at different times, which could enhance plant resistance and the quality of medicinal products.

Objective: To study the chemical constituents of traditional Mongolian medicine Usnea longissima.

Methods: The compounds were isolated and purified by the methods of solvent extraction and chromatographic technique, and their structures were identified on the basis of the analyses of spectral data.

Results: Three compounds were obtained and identified as 4-hydroxy-2-[ (2-hydroxy-4-methoxy-6-methylbenzoyl) oxy]-6-methylbenzoic acid (1), dibutyl phthalate (2) and diisobutyl phthalate (3).
