The article proposes the use of a semi-rigid energy-dissipation connection combined with a U-shaped metal damper to avoid brittle failure of rigid steel beam-column connections under seismic loading. The U-shaped metal damper connects the H-section column and the H-section beam to form a new energy-dissipation connection as an energy-dissipation member. Compared with the existing research, this connection has a stable energy-dissipation performance and great ductility.

To verify skin anti-inflammatory function of EBN, water extract and enzymatic digest of EBN, as well as the major sialic acid, N-acetyl neuraminic acid (NANA), were probed in TNF-α-treated HaCaT keratinocytes. The mRNA expressions of pro-inflammatory cytokines, e.

Strategic modifications to the C5 moiety of a class of 4-(4,4-dimethylpiperidinyl)-2,6-dimethylpyridinyl ALLINIs led to the identification of a tetrahydroisoquinoline heterocycle as a suitable spacer element to project the distal hydrophobic aryl ring. Subsequent optimization of the aryl substitutions identified as an ALLINI with single-digit nanomolar inhibitory potency and low clearance across preclinical species.

However, the effect and mechanism of corylin in regulating osteoclastogenesis remain unknown. By using murine bone marrow macrophages as the osteoclast precursor, corylin was found to inhibit the receptor activator of nuclear factor (NF) κB ligand (RANKL)-induced osteoclast differentiation via down-regulating osteoclastic marker genes.

Introduction: Inspired by application of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in skin treatment during injuries, an extracting method was developed here to recover high amounts of cytokines and growth factors from PRP; this prepared extract was named as self-growth colony (SGC).
Methods: In optimization of SGC preparation, various parameters were tested, for example, centrifugation force, freeze-thaw, sonication, and inclusion of calcium chelator. The amounts of cytokines and growth factors, including platelet factor 4, β-thromboglobulin, epidermal growth factor, vascular endothelial growth factor, platelet-derived growth factor, were measured by ELISA assay.
Acetylcholine (ACh) regulates inflammation 7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (7 nAChR). Acetylcholinesterase (AChE), an enzyme hydrolyzing ACh, is expressed in immune cells suggesting non-classical function in inflammatory responses. Here, the expression of PRiMA-linked G4 AChE was identified on the surface of macrophages.

The VEGF family members include VEGF-A, placenta growth factor (PGF), VEGF-B, VEGF-C and VEGF-D. VEGF receptor activation leads to multiple complex signaling pathways, particularly in inducing angiogenesis.

Piceatannol has been proved to possess activities of immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, antiproliferative and anticancer. However, the effect of piceatannol on VEGF-mediated angiogenesis is not known.

Flavonoids are regarded as the most common active components in TCMs because of their beneficial functions in the brain and erythropoietic system. Erythropoietin (EPO), a glycoprotein hormone, has been well-studied for its neuroprotective function.

Curcumin is a yellow pigment found in turmeric rhizomes, reported to exhibit various anti-inflammatory, anti-angiogenic, anti-proliferative, and antioxidant properties. Many reports have suggested that curcumin could induce apoptosis in malignant cells, and therefore, has great potential in tumor treatment.

Curcumin has been reported to have the function of anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-rheumatoid, and anti-atherosclerosis role. It can also reduce lipid, eliminate free radicals and inhibit the growth of the tumor.

Methods: From November 2013 to June 2015, 80 patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy meeting the inclusion criteria were divided into two groups randomly:the control group in which 39 patients were treated with rotation traction manipulation, and the treatment group in which 41 patients were treated with needle knife combined with rotation traction manipulation. The patients in the control group were treated once dayly for 2 weeks, which was 1 course.
Objective: To assess the design and the Mainland China subgroup baseline characteristics of the study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of alogliptin versus placebo in subjects with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) as monotherapy, add-on to metformin or add-on to pioglitazone.
Methods: This was a multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, 16-week study comparing alogliptin (ALO, 25 mg, 1/d) versus placebo (PLA) as monotherapy (A), add-on to metformin (B) or add-on to pioglitazone ± metformin (C). The T2DM subjects with glycosylated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) between 7% and 10% and aged between 18 years and 75 years were enrolled and randomized to the alogliptin group and the placebo group in 1: 1 ratio with 16 weeks treatment.
Objective: To explore the central mechanism of moxibustion on analgesic effect.
Methods: Male Wistar rats were screened by pain threshold value before making model, and 48 rats whose pain threshold was (250 +/- 25) g were selected. Twelve male Wistar rats were randomly selected as a normal group.

The genetic basis of abamectin resistance was studied in a strain of the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (L), following laboratory selection of a field population collected at Xuanhua, Hebei Province, China. Data from the testing of F1 progeny from reciprocal crosses between abamectin-resistant and abamectin-susceptible strains indicated that resistance might be autosomal and incompletely recessive with a degree of dominance of -0.13.
