Dermoid cysts originate from embryonic tissues trapped in the cranial fusion lines and typically manifest extra-axially. However, intradiploic dermoid cysts are rare among cranial tumors, and their rupture has been sparsely documented. We present a case showcasing a remarkable phenomenon-the spontaneous rupture of an intradiploic dermoid cyst into the subarachnoid space, displaying a distinct "volcano-like" appearance on CT and MRI scans.

Postoperative Maxillary Cyst Following Maxillary Tooth Extraction: A Rare Surgical Predicament.

A postoperative maxillary cyst (POMC) is an epithelium-lined cyst that can develop following surgery or trauma in the maxillary antral region. This condition arises from the entrapment of the sinonasal mucosa in the maxilla, and rarely in the mandible, due to trauma or instrumentation near the maxillary sinus. Literature indicates that POMCs, or surgical ciliated cysts, can appear as delayed complications from five months to 56 years after trauma or surgical procedures in the sinus area.

A Novel Minimally Invasive and Cost-Effective Internal Fixation of the Le Fort I Fracture by Using Intermaxillary Fixation Screw and Wire: A Technical Note.

Biological analysis of an innovative biodegradable antibiotic eluting bioactive glass/gypsum composite bone cement for treating experimental chronic MRSA osteomyelitis.

A multi-barrier antibiotics loaded biodegradable composite bone cement for resolving chronic osteomyelitis has been studied to understand the physico-mechanical properties, drug loading/eluting efficiency, and different merits and demerits prior to clinical application. After successful induction of bone infection in 28 rabbits using methicillin-resistant (MRSA) strains, calcium sulfate/bioactive glass based composite cement was implanted in 12 defects to assess its performance over parenteral therapy with microscopic and radiological examination for 90 days. The composite cement revealed acceptable physico-mechanical properties and controlled drug elution kinetics.

BTB dimers as building blocks for reversible drug-induced protein oligomerization.

Here, we characterize the BTB domain of the transcription factor BCL6 (BTB) as a small-molecule-controlled, reversible oligomerization switch, which oligomerizes upon BI-3802 treatment and de-oligomerizes upon addition of BI-3812. We show that the magnitude of oligomerization can be controlled by BI-3802 concentration and exposure time. In cellular models, exposure to BI-3802/BI-3812 can drive multiple cycles of foci formation consisting of BTB fused to EGFP, which are not degraded due to the lack of a degron.

The cement is composed of poly(lactide-co-glycolide) encapsulated antibiotic-biphasic calcium phosphate granule complex and additive antibiotic powder in gypsum binder.

Duplication of the internal jugular vein: a rare presentation during neck dissection.

The anatomical variations of the internal jugular vein (IJV) is a well-documented phenomenon which may depend on the course of drainage, fenestration in the vein, bifid formation, variations in the tributaries and so on. However, a true duplication of the IJV is a rare entity on its own and is seldom reported in the literature. We report a case of true duplication of IJV which is an incidental discovery during the course of neck dissection.
