Early case series suggest that about one-third of patients with COVID-19 present with neurological manifestations, including cerebrovascular disease, reported in 2%-6% of hospitalised patients. These are generally older patients with severe infection and comorbidities. Here we discuss the case of a previously fit and well 39-year-old man who presented with fever and respiratory symptoms, evolving in pneumonia with hypoxia but only requiring continuous positive airway pressure.

We report here the spectral, ligand-binding and enzymatic properties (peroxynitrite isomerization, nitrite-reductase activity) of cytoglobin-1 from two Antarctic fish, and and present the crystal structure of cytoglobin-1. The Antarctic cytoglobins-1 display high O affinity, scarcely compatible with an O-supply role, a slow rate constant for nitrite-reductase activity, and do not catalyze peroxynitrite isomerization.

Directional DBS (dDBS) may be a way to activate fiber tracts more selectively. Is dDBS for ET superior to omnidirectional DBS (oDBS) regarding therapeutic window and clinically as effective as oDBS?
Materials And Methods: Ten patients with ET treated with PSA/VIM-DBS were recruited.
Background: We recently reported that enhanced [18F]-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake in skeletal muscles predicts disease aggressiveness in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The present experimental study aimed to assess whether this predictive potential reflects the link between FDG uptake and redox stress that has been previously reported in different tissues and disease models.
Methods: The study included 15 SOD1 mice (as experimental ALS model) and 15 wildtype mice (around 120 days old).
