Proliferation of bile duct-like epithelial cells is a common feature of extrahepatic biliary obstruction and it is also present in other forms of liver disease. Experimental infestation with Fasciola hepatica induces hyperplasia of ductular cells together with different functional alterations, such as hypercholeresis, in the rat. We have investigated the contribution of ductular biliary secretion to the hypercholeretic phenomenon in rats with experimental fascioliasis.

A highly conserved hydrophobic motif within the previously described block, D2, is present not only in lepidopteran toxin genes but also in toxins active against diptera and coleoptera. Using an in vivo assay for pac cleavage, we show that initiation of DNA synthesis and DNA packaging are uncoupled. The new compounds Lys psi(CH2NH)-Trp(Nps)-OMe (LTNAM) and Trp(Nps)psi(COCH2)(R,S)-Lys (TNLKM) induced a dose-dependent and naloxone-reversible analgesia following intracerebroventricular (ICV) administration to mice. The antinociceptive effects were longer lasting compared to those induced by the parent compounds.

The establishment of a new human breast cancer cell line (IIB-BR-G) was successful after a previous growth of the cells isolated from a breast primary tumor in a female nude mouse.
