Background: Intensive care units (ICU) are characterized by high medical assistance costs and great complexity. Recommendations to determine the needs of medical staff are scarce, generating appreciable variability. The French Intensive Care Society (FICS) and the French National Council of Intensive Care Medicine (CNP MIR, Conseil National Professionel de Médecine Intensive Réanimation) have established a technical committee of experts, the purposes of which were to draft recommendations regarding staffing needs in ICUs and to propose optimal organisation of work hours, a key objective being improved workplace quality of life.

Mapping marine biodiversity remains a key challenge to which citizen initiatives can contribute. Here we describe a dataset made of both underwater and aerial imagery collected in shallow tropical coastal areas by using various low cost platforms operated either by citizens or researchers.

This study suggests that nuclear FAK limits ERK/MAPK activation in supporting HGSOC cell survival to cisplatin stress. Overall, it is likely that targets of FAK-mediated survival signaling may be tumor type- and context-dependent.

Interpretations of EC FAK-null phenotypes are complicated by related PYK2 (protein tyrosine kinase 2) expression, and to test this, we created PYK2 FAK mice with tamoxifen-inducible EC-specific Cre recombinase expression. At 11 weeks of age, EC FAK inactivation resulted in increased heart and lung mass and vascular leakage only on a PYK2 background.

The quantum yield of the internal conversion to the S state reached ∼0.69 in benzene, while lower values of 0.

The protective effect of assisted PD on the risk of transfer to hemodialysis was not constant over time; it started after the first 6 months on PD. Assisted PD programs should be sustainable for at least 6 months to observe their benefits.

Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors offer several advantages but their use has been limited for the GW sensing due to its limited sensitivity. FBG sensors in the edge-filtering configuration have overcome this issue with sensitivity and there is a renewed interest in their use.

Context: There are currently no national estimates of how many people die while unhoused in the US. Local jurisdictions have developed their own approaches for estimating homeless mortality.
Objective: We aimed to examine these local approaches, document what is known about homeless mortality, and summarize local methodologies.
A measurement of time-dependent CP violation in D^{0}→π^{+}π^{-}π^{0} decays using a pp collision data sample collected by the LHCb experiment in 2012 and from 2015 to 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.7 fb^{-1}, is presented. The initial flavor of each D^{0} candidate is determined from the charge of the pion produced in the D^{*}(2010)^{+}→D^{0}π^{+} decay.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAcross the stable density stratification of the abyssal ocean, deep dense water is slowly propelled upward by sustained, though irregular, turbulent mixing. The resulting mean upwelling determines large-scale oceanic circulation properties like heat and carbon transport. In the ocean interior, this turbulent mixing is caused mainly by breaking internal waves: generated predominantly by winds and tides, these waves interact nonlinearly, transferring energy downscale, and finally become unstable, break and mix the water column.

For deuterium-labeled ethylene, the time scale for ultrafast internal conversion is increased by a factor of approximately √2, in agreement with the results of ab initio multiple spawning calculations, indicating the essential role played by hydrogen motion in the conversion process. Following internal conversion, a metastable species with an electron binding energy of ∼9 eV is produced, and it decays with a time constant similar to that for both isotopologues.

It could improve inspiratory muscle strength and decrease weaning duration but a lack of knowledge on the optimal training regimen raise to inconsistent results. We made the hypothesis that an innovative mixed intensity program for both endurance and strength improvement could be more effective.

We aim to evaluate the tolerance and efficacy of avacopan given outside randomized clinical trials or with severe kidney involvement.
Methods: In this multicentre retrospective study, we reviewed the clinical charts of patients with AAV and contraindication to high dose of GCs who received avacopan 30 mg b.
The LHCb Collaboration measures production of the exotic hadron χ_{c1}(3872) in proton-nucleus collisions for the first time. Comparison with the charmonium state ψ(2S) suggests that the exotic χ_{c1}(3872) experiences different dynamics in the nuclear medium than conventional hadrons, and comparison with data from proton-proton collisions indicates that the presence of the nucleus may modify χ_{c1}(3872) production rates. This is the first measurement of the nuclear modification factor of an exotic hadron.

However, the processes leading to mixing and the pathways through which this upwelling occurs remain insufficiently understood. Recent observational and theoretical work has suggested that deep-water upwelling may occur along the ocean's sloping seafloor; however, evidence has, so far, been indirect.
