Background: The incorporation of electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePROs), such as the Geriatric Assessment (GA) and treatment preferences, into decision-making for pancreatic cancer has been limited by clinician- and system-level barriers concerning workflow. We hypothesized that ePRO inclusion within multidisciplinary tumor boards (MDTBs) would circumvent barriers and provide a venue for systematic consideration of critical patient-provided information.

Patients And Methods: The INtegrating Systematic PatIent-Reported Evaluations (INSPIRE) intervention consists of (1) patient survey completion, including GA and patient preferences, and (2) screensharing patient ePROs during MDTBs.

Treatment-Free Remission in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia.

With the discovery of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), overall survival in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) now approaches that of the general population. While these TKIs have proven to be lifesaving, remaining on them lifelong creates both physical and financial burdens for patients. Recently, multiple trials have begun looking into the efficacy of trialing patients off these TKIs to see if they can sustain treatment-free remission (TFR).

Background: Dexmedetomidine (DEX) is a highly selective alpha-2-receptor agonist, and its use has not been well studied in major microvascular reconstructive surgery of the head and neck.

Purpose: The purpose is to measure the association between DEX and neck hematoma formation in subjects undergoing head and neck microvascular reconstructive surgery.

Study Design, Setting, Sample: The investigators implemented a retrospective cohort study on subjects undergoing microvascular head and neck reconstruction for benign and malignant pathology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 2014 to 2021.

Addition of single dose gemtuzumab ozogamicin to intensive induction chemotherapy in core-binding factor acute myeloid leukemia.

In a meta-analysis of 5 trials, the addition of gemtuzumab ozogamicin (GO) to intensive induction chemotherapy led to a survival benefit in patients with core-binding factor (CBF) acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Given the heterogeneous incorporation of GO in clinical trials, the ideal dose and schedule remains unclear. We conducted a single-center retrospective analysis to compare outcomes of patients with CBF-AML treated with intensive induction chemotherapy, with or without a single dose of GO 3 mg/m, during induction only.

A comparative cohort study of gastrointestinal oncology patients: Impact of a shift to telehealth on delivery of interprofessional cancer care.

Early studies of oncology visits performed via telehealth demonstrate patient and provider satisfaction; however, understanding of the impact of telehealth on clinic workflows is limited. The incorporation of telehealth visits into an interprofessional model of oncology care was evaluated to assess for changes in care delivery and patient engagement. New patients with a gastrointestinal cancer diagnosis who were actively undergoing treatment and followed for at least three months were divided into two cohorts based on telehealth utilization.

Purpose: Data on timing of oral intake (PO) after free flap reconstruction of the oral cavity have been limited. Recent studies have shown that early PO after free flap reconstruction does not lead to increased morbidity and has resulted in decreased hospital stay. The objective of this study is to assess postoperative complications associated with timing of PO after free flap reconstruction of the oral cavity and to define clinical predictors of postoperative complications.

A Cross-Sectional Exploration of Cytokine-Symptom Networks in Breast Cancer Survivors Using Network Analysis.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to (a) visualize the symptom-cytokine networks (perceived stress, fatigue, loneliness, perceived cognitive impairment, daytime sleepiness, sleep quality, and 13 cytokines) and (b) explore centrality metrics of symptom-cytokine networks in breast cancer survivors who completed chemotherapy treatment.

Methods: Cross-sectional analysis of data collected from 66 breast cancer survivors who were on average three years post chemotherapy completion. Serological evaluation of ovarian steroids of red-rumped agouti (Dasyprocta leporina) during the estrous cycle phases.

The objective of this study was to evaluate serum progesterone (P4) and 17β estradiol (E2) concentrations throughout the estrous cycle in the red-rumped agouti (Dasyprocta leporina). A total of eight multiparous, captive-bred females were bled throughout their estrous cycle via saphenous venipuncture, with E2 and P4 concentrations being measured via ELISA of the serum collected. Serum E ranged from 1212 to 3500pg/ml with a peak value coinciding with observed estrus.

Cast Titanium for Obturator Framework Construction in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics.

A 37 year old male presented with the complaint of a loose and bulky acrylic obturator prosthesis. He had previously tried to using a different acrylic obturator prostheses as well as both cobalt chromium and titanium framework obturators.
