Plants known as obligate aerobes developed different mechanisms to overcome the damage incurred under oxygen limitation. One of the survival strategies to have commonly appeared in hydrophytic plants is the escape strategy, which accelerates plant axial organs' growth in order to escape hypoxic conditions as soon as possible. The present study aimed to distinguish the alterations in coleoptile elongation, viability and metabolic profiles in coleoptiles of slow- and fast-growing rice varieties.

The main advantage of BY-2 suspension cultures is the synchronization of cell development and the appearance of polar elongation. In batch culture, BY-2 cells passed through the lag, proliferation, elongation, and stationary phases.

By grafting hydrocarbon chains to well-defined MOF thin films (SURMOFs) prepared using layer-by-layer methods, we were able to fabricate superhydrophobic substrates with static water contact angles over 160°. A detailed theoretical modelling of the hydrocarbon chains grafted on the outer SURMOF surface with well-defined spacing between anchoring points reveals that the grafted hydrocarbon chains behave similarly to polymer brushes during wetting, where conformational entropy is traded with mixing entropy.

Pulmonary delivery and formulation of biologics are among the more complex and growing scientific topics in drug delivery. We herein developed a dry powder formulation using disordered mesoporous silica particles (MSP) as the sole excipient and lysozyme, the most abundant antimicrobial proteins in the airways, as model protein. The MSP had the optimal size for lung deposition (2.

At the same time, the presence of many macro- and microcomponents in milk, as available sources of carbon and energy, as well as the high activity of water, cause the rapid development of native and pathogen microorganisms in it. The goal of the work was to assess the possibility of using an array of gas chemical sensors based on piezoquartz microbalances with polycomposite coatings to assess the microbiological indicators of milk quality and to compare the microflora of milk samples.

Although several models have been proposed to predict the value of the dissociation constant and the Gibbs free energy, they are currently not capable of making stable predictions with high accuracy, in particular for complexes consisting of more than two molecules. In this work, we present ProBAN, a new method for predicting binding affinity in protein-protein complexes based on a deep convolutional neural network.

In the present study, we investigated the therapeutic potency of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles (MSC-EVs) in the complex anti-tuberculosis treatment (ATT). A rabbit model of renal tuberculosis (rTB) was constructed by injecting of the standard strain Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv into the cortical layer of the kidney parenchyma.

We demonstrate that the efficacy and specificity of detecting and differentiating volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can be significantly enhanced using a range of slightly varied MOFs. These variations are obtained via postsynthetic modification (PSM) of a primary framework.

Objective: Using two biocompatible precursors, silicon and iron glycerolates, a new bioactive nanocomposite silicon‒iron glycerolates hydrogel was obtained by sol-gel method.
Methods: The composition and structural features of the hydrogel were studied using a complex of modern analytical techniques, including TEM, XRD, and AES.
A series of stable iron(II) bis(dicarbollide) derivatives [8,8'-(RNHC(Et)HN)-3,3'-Fe(1,2-CBH)] (R = Pr, R = Ph, (CH)OH, (CH)OH, (CH)NMe) was prepared starting from FeCl or [FeCl(dppe)] and the corresponding -carboranyl amidines [10-RNHC(Et)HN-7,8-CBH]. In a similar way, the reactions of the oxonium derivatives of -carborane with FeCl in tetrahydrofuran in the presence of -BuOK lead to the corresponding stable oxonium derivatives iron(II) bis(dicarbollide) [8,8'-(RR'O)-3,3'-Fe(1,2-CBH)] (RR' = (CH), (CH)O(CH), (CH); R = R' = Et), which can be alternatively prepared by the reaction of the parent iron(II) bis(dicarbollide) with tetrahydrofuran or 1,4-dioxane in the presence of MeSO. The cyclic voltammetry studies of the synthesized iron(II) bis(dicarbollide) derivatives revealed that the introduction of amidinium and oxonium substituents leads to a significant increase in the Fe/Fe redox potential relative to the parent iron(II) bis(dicarbollide).

The analysis of the AMF taxa in the North Caucasus, a temperate biodiversity hotspot, used to be limited to the genus level. This study aimed to define the AMF biodiversity at the species level in the North Caucasus biotopes.

Selective depletion or suppression of self-reactive T cells remains a holy grail of autoimmune therapy, but disease-associated T cell receptors (TCRs) and cognate antigenic epitopes remained elusive. A TRBV9-containing CD8 TCR motif was recently associated with the pathogenesis of ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis and acute anterior uveitis, and cognate HLA-B*27-presented epitopes were identified.

A patient learning pathway (PLP) approach to patient and caregiver engagement was developed, containing knowledge, abilities, and skills mobilized by patients and caregivers at key moments of the life course with an illness, as well as emerging educational needs.
Objective: The objective of the current paper is to present the innovative PLP approach to patient and caregiver engagement in telehealth by applying it to three medical specialties within the context of the Québec healthcare system: dermatology, oncology, and mental health/psychiatry.
This research is aimed at conducting a comparative analysis of the dehydration process of lactose-containing ingredients and sucrose. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TG) methods were used to investigate the moisture bond types and the process of thermal degradation in native whey, dried skimmed milk, dried whole milk, dried milk whey demineralized, purified lactose, and sucrose. There were several peaks on the DSC and TG curves for lactose-containing ingredients.

Using differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, sorption calorimetry, and synchrotron small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), we have characterized the properties at low (re)hydration levels of the protein lysozyme, which was freeze-dried together with the excipient sucrose. We observe that the residual moisture content in these samples increases with the addition of lysozyme.
