Background And Objectives: Institutional racism causes worse health outcomes for patients of racial/ethnic minority groups via limited access to health care, disparities in quality of care delivered, and lack of physician diversity. Increased attention to racism in 2020 led many medical institutions to examine their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts. In the context of increased national attention to health equity, this study sought to investigate the current status of DEI infrastructure by evaluating leadership and support related to DEI in family medicine departments in 2020 and 2021.

Background: Although costs are of key importance to clinic leadership when considering adoption of new programs, few studies examine real-world resource needs associated with implementing complex interventions for chronic conditions in primary care. This analysis sought to identify the costs necessary to implement the evidence-based collaborative care model (CoCM), an integrated behavioral health program for common mental disorders in primary care.

Ensuring tritium fuel self-sufficiency while maintaining continuous and high-specification fuel flow to the tokamak via a low tritium inventory and controllable fuel cycle is a significant challenge to the STEP plant design. Effective and high-quality fuelling and exhaust design is required to sustain and control a stable plasma, whereas fuel sufficiency is required to prevent depletion of available tritium supply. Concerns regarding the lack of tritium availability preventing continuous tritium import are countered by breeding, where highly energetic neutrons from the core fusion reactions interact with lithium atoms suspended in the surrounding breeder blanket to produce tritium.

Here it is reported that DNA nanostructures modified with cholesterol tags disrupt bacterial membranes to cause microbial cell death. The presence of neurofibrillary tangles containing hyper-phosphorylated tau is a characteristic of Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology. The positron emission tomography (PET) radioligand sensitive to tau neurofibrillary tangles (F-AV1451) also binds with iron. This off-target binding effect may be enhanced in older adults on the AD spectrum, particularly those with amyloid-positive biomarkers.

Introduction: Separate unimodal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) literatures have shown that hippocampal gray matter macrostructure (volume) and microstructure (diffusion) decline with age and relate to episodic memory performance, with multimodal MRI studies reporting that episodic memory may be better explained by a combination of these metrics. However, these effects are often assessed independent of age or only within older adults and therefore do not address whether these distinct modalities explain variance in (i.e, mediate) the effect of age on episodic memory.

Brain regions accumulate different amounts of iron with age, with older adults having higher iron in the basal ganglia (globus pallidus, putamen, caudate) relative to the hippocampus. This has important implications for functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) studies in aging as the presence of iron may influence both neuronal functioning as well as the measured fMRI (BOLD) signal, and these effects will vary across age groups and brain regions. To test this hypothesis, the current study examined the effect of iron on age group differences in task-related activity within each basal nuclei and the hippocampus.

This study tested the relationship between organizational culture and climate and variation in clinical outcomes of the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) for treatment of maternal depression implemented in community health centers.

Objective: To explore patient perspectives regarding patient-clinician communication during telemedicine medication abortion compared with traditional, facility based, in-clinic visits.

Methods: We conducted semi-structured interviews with participants who received either live, face-to-face telemedicine or in-clinic medication abortion from a large, reproductive health care facility in Washington State. Using Miller's conceptual framework for patient-doctor communication in telemedicine settings, we developed questions exploring participants' experiences of the medication abortion consultation, including the clinician's verbal and nonverbal interpersonal approach and communication of relevant medical information, and the setting where care was received.

The introduction of breast screening programs has led to the increased detection of occult breast lesions requiring diagnostic surgical biopsy or breast-conserving surgery for early-stage breast cancer. The perforant path, the white matter bundle connecting the entorhinal cortex (ERC) with the hippocampal formation deteriorates with age-related cognitive decline. Previous investigations using diffusion-weighted MRI to quantify perforant path integrity in-vivo have been limited due to image resolution or have quantified the perforant path using methods susceptible to partial volume effects such as the tensor model and without consideration of its 3-dimensional morphology. In this investigation, we use quantitative-anisotropy informed tractography derived from ultra-high resolution diffusion imaging (ZOOMit) to investigate structural connectivity of the perforant path and other medial temporal lobe (MTL) pathways in older adults (63 to 98 years old, n = 51).
