The authors report ten cases of small bowel diverticulosis revealed by a complication in four cases. Aetiologic, pathological, clinical and therapeutic characteristics of this rare disease are reviewed. Main complications are perforations, intestinal obstruction and hemorrhage.

Among 1,221 patients operated on for a CRC between 1969 and 1988, 753 patients having undergone a curative surgical procedure with a follow-up of at least six months were evaluated retrospectively. 134 patients (17.2%) did not receive any transfusion; the others 619 (82.

Pinaverium bromide is a specific calcium channel blocker used in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) for its spasmolytic activity. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of orally administered pinaverium bromide on jejunal motility and total and segmental colonic transit time in control subjects. Gastrointestinal studies were performed in 10 healthy volunteers (30 +/- 3 years), before and after a treatment phase of 14 days (150 mg/d).

Aim of this study was an update on clinical and biological aspects, localizing studies, and therapeutic aspects with their results. There were 3418 females (70%) and 1465 males (30%) mean age 53 years (9 to 91 years): 3702 solitary adenomas (75.

Aim of this study is to report hepato biliary complications in 200 adult patients, mean age 53 years, treated between 1979 and 1988.

Expression of the human parathyroid hormone (PTH) gene in E. coli yielded intact PTH and PTH-(8-84). To determine if PTH-(8-84) is the result of a competing translation initiated from methionine codon-8 or degradation of the intact PTH, twelve new gene constructs with or without an internal ribosome-binding site (iRBS) in the PTH-(1-5) region were prepared via substitution with degenerate codons.

Indications for operation were gangrene in six patients, rest pain in five patients, and nonhealing ulcer in two patients. No patient had a usable autogenous saphenous vein.

With adenine-rich degenerate codons constituting the PTH-(1-5) region, intact PTH has been expressed as the only PTH product at 6.5 mg/liter.

The effects of alcohol withdrawal on total and segmental transit time were evaluated in 20 chronic alcoholic subjects. After withdrawal, colorectal transit time significantly increased from 24.9 +/- 3.

The two enzymes have very similar sequences, as shown by HPLC analysis of tryptic digests and partial amino acid sequencing. As judged by their circular dichroism spectra, they have almost identical secondary structure.

Aneurysmal repair with graft is able to remove hemostasis abnormalities for a long time. The physiopathology of these abnormalities is described here through the study of an operated case.

These methods are inexpensive and virtually exclude the risk of serious infections because no foreign material is used. The procedures can be used in most patients.

Nutritional assistance was indicated in 31 patients with an ENT tumour at different stages of treatment and different stages of the disease. These patients presented with disorders of deglutition with false passages (68%), aspiration pneumonia (10%), dysphagia (35%) or denutrition (17%). We used an endoscopic percutaneous gastrotomy kit produced by the Bioser company (pull technique).

On the basis of a new case, the authors propose several pathogenic hypotheses: this adenoma develops and/or migrates from the fourth branchial pouch. Preoperative imaging is very useful for guiding the operation via sternotomy.
