Photocatalytic nitrogen fixation from N provides an alternative strategy for ammonia (NH) production, but it was limited by the consumption of a sacrificial electron donor for the currently reported half-reaction system. Here, we use naturally abundant and renewable cellulose as the sacrificial reagent for photocatalytic nitrogen fixation over oxygen-vacancy-modified MoO nanosheets as the photocatalyst. In this smartly designed photocatalytic system, the photooxidation of cellulose not only generates value-added chemicals but also provides electrons for the N reduction reaction and results in the production of NH with a maximum rate of 68 μmol·h·g.

However, the effectiveness and sustainability of immune activation in tumor immunotherapy remain challenging. Tumor immunogenic cell death, characterized by the release of immunogenic substances, damage associated molecular patterns (DAMPs), and tumor associated antigens, from dying tumor cells (DTCs), offers a potential solution.

Isoliquiritigenin (ISL), a single flavonoid from licorice, exhibits a wide range of pharmacological impacts, but its function in ferroptosis caused by myocardial I/R injury remains unclear. This study delved into the protective effect of ISL on myocardial I/R injury-induced ferroptosis and its mechanism.

The ability of energy supply in marine animals plays a crucial role in avoiding the stress of elevated temperatures. The investigation into anaerobic metabolism, an essential mechanism for regulating energy provision under heat stress, is limited in mollusks.

Depth images and thermal images contain the spatial geometry information and surface temperature information, which can act as complementary information for the RGB modality. However, the quality of the depth and thermal images is often unreliable in some challenging scenarios, which will result in the performance degradation of the two-modal based salient object detection (SOD). Meanwhile, some researchers pay attention to the triple-modal SOD task, namely the visible-depth-thermal (VDT) SOD, where they attempt to explore the complementarity of the RGB image, the depth image, and the thermal image.

Methods: This retrospective real-world study was conducted in 16 Chinese hospitals between October 2017 and April 2023 and analyzed newly diagnosed (NDMM) and first-line relapsed multiple myeloma (FRMM) patients who attained at least a partial response from bortezomib-based induction therapy, followed by an ixazomib-based oral regimen for 2 year or until disease progression or intolerable toxicity.
Results: The study enrolled 199 patients, median age: 63 years old, male 55.
Background: A common treatment strategy for individuals with multifocal hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who are not candidates for surgical resection is transarterial chemoembolization (TACE). Combining TACE with I seed insertion (ISI) may offer a means of enhancing therapeutic efficacy. The purpose of this study was to compare the therapeutic efficacy of TACE administered with and without ISI for the treatment of multifocal HCC.

Background: Immunogenic cell death (ICD) is a crucial mechanism for triggering the adaptive immune response in cancer patients. Damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) are critical factors in the detection of ICD. Chemotherapeutic drugs can cause ICD and the release of DAMPs.

Long non-coding ribonucleic acids (lncRNAs) are participating in the malignant behaviour of tumours regulated by PCD. Nevertheless, the function of PANoptosis-associated lncRNAs in lung adenocarcinoma remains to be investigated.

Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC) is the most aggressive subtype of thyroid cancer with few effective therapies. Though immunotherapies such as targeting PD-1/PD-L1 axis have benefited patients with solid tumor, the druggable immune checkpoints are quite limited in ATC. In our study, we focused on the anti-tumor potential of sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectins (Siglecs) in ATC.

Se-based cathodes have caught tremendous attention owing to their comparable volumetric capacity and better electronic conductivity to S cathodes. However, its low utilization ratio and sluggish redox kinetics due to the high reaction barrier of solid-phase transformation from Se to LiSe limit its practical application. Herein, an in-situ texturing hollow carbon host by gas-solid interface reaction anchored with Fe single-atomic catalyst is designed and prepared for advanced Li-Se batteries.

Background: Previous studies have suggested a link between gut microbiota and skin diseases, including erysipelas, an inflammatory skin condition. Despite this, the precise nature of the relationship between erysipelas and gut microbiota remains unclear and subject to debate.
Methods: We conducted a Mendelian Randomization (MR) analysis using publicly available summary data from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) to explore the potential causal relationship between gut microbiota and erysipelas.
Osteoporosis is particularly prevalent among postmenopausal women and the elderly. In the present study, we investigated the effect of the novel small molecule E0924G (N-(4-methoxy-pyridine-2-yl)-5-methylfuran-2-formamide) on osteoporosis. E0924G significantly increased the protein expression levels of osteoprotegerin (OPG) and runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), and thus significantly promoted osteogenesis in MC3T3-E1 cells.
