Background: Clinical studies demonstrated beneficial effects of sodium-glucose-transporter 2 inhibitors on the risk of cardiovascular death in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). However, underlying processes for cardioprotection remain unclear. The present study focused on the impact of empagliflozin (Empa) on myocardial function in a rat model with established HFpEF and analyzed underlying molecular mechanisms.

Measurements of the associated production of a W boson and a charm ( ) quark in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 are reported. The analysis uses a data sample corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 19.7 collected by the CMS detector at the LHC.

We aimed to investigate potential endovascular treatment (EVT) effect modification by thrombus perviousness.
Methods: We included 443 patients with thin-slice imaging available, out of 1766 patients from the pooled HERMES (Highly Effective Reperfusion Evaluated in Multiple Endovascular Stroke trials) data set of 7 randomized trials on EVT in the early window (most within 8 hours).
Background and Purpose- The location of the thrombus as observed on first digital subtraction angiography during endovascular treatment may differ from the initial observation on initial noninvasive imaging. We studied the incidence of thrombus dynamics, its impact on patient outcomes, and its association with intravenous thrombolytics. Methods- We included patients from the MR CLEAN registry (Multicenter Randomized Clinical Trial of Endovascular Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke) with an initial target occlusion on computed tomography angiography located in the intracranial internal carotid artery, M1, or M2.

However, conflicting data about this subject exist in patients undergoing endovascular treatment. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate whether thrombus imaging characteristics assessed on computed tomography are associated with outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke treated by endovascular treatment.

It has been suggested that they affect each other. The aim of this study is to evaluate the association between clot burden score, thrombus perviousness, and collateral score and to determine whether collateral score influences the association of thrombus characteristics with functional outcome.

The micronucleus (MN) assay in V79 cell cultures and the Ames test were used for in vitro analyses, as well as MN and comet assays in Swiss mice for in vivo analyses. The in vitro genotoxicity/mutagenicity results showed that either CMO (30, 60, or 120 µg/ml-MN assay; 0.

Copaiba oleoresins are used in alternative medicine as anti-inflammatory, antitumoral, and antimicrobial treatments. (-)-Copalic acid (CA) is the major diterpene found in exudates from Copaifera species. We have examined the genotoxicity and the chemopreventive potential of Copaifera multijuga oleoresin (CM) and CA.

In this study, experiments were performed to: (i) describe and quantitatively characterize the behavioral and ventilatory responses in piauçu fish (Leporinus macrocephalus), individually and as part of a school, to conspecific alarm substance (CAS) and; (ii) test the effect of acute fluoxetine treatment on alarm reaction. Histological analysis revealed the presence of club cells in the intermediate and superficial layers of the epidermis.

For the first time we use a matrix-element-based approach to study tt spin correlation. We use tt → W+ b W- b → ℓ+ νbℓ- ν b final states produced in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy sqrt(s)=1.

The objective of the present study was to investigate the potential mutagenic effect of B. dracunculifolia ethyl acetate extract (Bd-EAE) and its influence on the mutagenicity induced by the chemotherapeutic agent doxorubicin (DXR) using the rat bone marrow and peripheral blood micronucleus test.

We analyzed the thyroid function in 21, 30, 60 and 150 days old animals that were injected with leptin on the first 10 days of life, to determine whether this corresponds to a critical period for the establishment of the hormonal imprinting in the programming of the thyroid function. Pups were divided, within 24 hours of birth, into two groups: Lep group, which was injected once daily with 8 microg/100 g B.
