Background: Approximately half of the patients with acute ischemic stroke who receive intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) do not achieve an excellent outcome. Remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) as a promising neuroprotective treatment may improve clinical outcomes in this population. This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of RIC in patients with IVT.

Background: Currently, validated biomarkers for assessing hemorrhagic transformation (HT) after intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) are lacking. We aimed to validate a test combining GFAP (glial fibrillary acidic protein) and UCH-L1 (ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase-L1) to indicate the absence of HT after IVT.

Methods: We prospectively enrolled consecutive patients with stroke treated with IVT from 16 hospitals.

Purpose: Synaptosomal actin dynamics are essential for synaptic structural stability. Whether actin dynamics are involved in structural and functional synaptic plasticity within the primary visual cortex (V1) or behavioral visual acuity in rats has still not been thoroughly investigated.

Methods: Synaptosome preparation and western blot analysis were used to analyze synaptosomal actin dynamics.

COVID-19 pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 constitutes a global public health crisis with enormous economic consequences. Monoclonal antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 can provide an important treatment option to fight COVID-19, especially for the most vulnerable populations. In this work, potent antibodies binding to SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein were identified from COVID-19 convalescent patients.

To make plants more attractive to vectors of viruses, plant-infecting viruses can alter host plant physiology. The recent outbreaks of (TYLCV) relate to the spread of its primary vector, the whitefly . Here, we investigated the question of whether the better performance of Q, relative to that of the B biotype, on TYLCV-infected tomato plants could be explained by differences in the ability of the Q and B to obtain free amino acids from the virus-infected plants.

Background and Purpose- Trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO)-a gut derived metabolite-has been shown to be atherogenic. It remains unknown whether TMAO is associated with the risk of first stroke. We aimed to determine the association between serum TMAO levels and first stroke in hypertensive patients without major cardiovascular diseases and examine any possible effect modifiers.

In our study, the effects of water stress on photosynthesis and photosynthetic electron transport chain (PETC) were studied in several ways, including monitoring the change of gas exchange parameters, modulated chlorophyll fluorescence, rapid fluorescence induction kinetics, reactive oxygen species (ROS), antioxidant enzyme activities and D1 protein levels in apple leaves. Our results show that when leaf water potential ( ) is above -1.5 MPa, the stomatal limitation should be the main reason for a drop of photosynthesis.

Herbicide application incurs water contamination and thus effective herbicide detection methods are needed. In this research, a kinetic model was developed to describe the processes of herbicide diffusion into plant tissues and binding to the active sites. DCMU [3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,1-dimethylurea], a commonly used herbicide, was used as a test chemical and its diffusion into plant leaves and binding to plastoquinone B (Q(B)) sites were analyzed by using the model.

Wolbachia are a group of maternally inherited bacteria harbored by a variety of arthropods and can manipulate the reproductivity of their hosts. Eighteen populations of whiteflies were collected from Hebei, Xinjiang, Beijing, Shandong, Zhejiang, Guangxi, Hainan, Guangzhou and Fujian provinces, China. These whiteflies were molecularly identified using internal transcribed spacer 1 ITS1 rDNA sequences.
