We report a case of acinic cell adenocarcinoma of the parotid in a 18-year-old young man. Clinical examination showed a firm mobile mass of the gland. Light microscopy revealed the tumor composed of two distinct cell populations: a main one with large, polyhedrical or round cells with eosinophilic cytoplasm and a smaller proportion of granular cytoplasm clear cells.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjective: To describe the cytologic features of invasive micropapillary carcinoma of the breast, a distinct, unusual variant of infiltrating duct carcinoma characterized histologically by pseudopapillary structures lacking fibrovascular cores and tubuloalveolar structures floating freely within clear spaces separated by a delicate fibrocollagenous stroma and characterized clinically by prominent lymphotropism and an aggressive clinical course.
Study Design: We reviewed the clinical, cytologic, histologic, immunohistochemical and flow cytometric features in 11 cases of invasive micropapillary carcinoma of the breast diagnosed preoperatively by fine needle aspiration.
Results: All patients were women, ranging in age from 31 to 83 years.
The authors report a case of mesothelial cyst of the diaphragm in a boy 11 years old who was examined for pain in the right hypochondrium with exacerbation during respiratory movements. Ultrasonography and CT suggested the diagnosis. However the final diagnosis of mesothelial cyst of the diaphragm was possible only after laparotomy and histological examination.

Different pathological conditions, different clinical syndromes, instrumental approach for the diagnosis as well as medical and surgical treatment of pseudo-obstruction are discussed. Surgery has not been proven to be effective in the clinical management of CIIP for the irreversibility of the myopathic or neuropathic lesions.

With regards to postoperative peritonitis, the referred high mortality rate is due to a late recognition and a consequently late treatment. The causes for late diagnosis are: uncertain clinical picture; misuse of analgesic drugs; reluctance of the surgeon to accept a failure.
