Allergic reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics have been reported frequently and may occur because of sensitization to unique haptens or to determinants shared with other drugs. Levels of specific immunoglobulin (Ig) E to penicillin V, penicillin G, amoxicillin, and ampicillin were undetectable.
