Self-Reported Oral Hygiene Performance of Patients in Albania: A Questionnaire-Based Survey.

Oral hygiene is a key factor for dental and periodontal diseases and the prognosis of any treatment to restore their consequences. The present survey aimed to evaluate how well informed patients in Albania are on oral hygiene, given the scarce evidence on this topic. This survey was performed using a Google Forms questionnaire on oral hygiene habits, type and technique of instruments used, and frequency of dental recall visits.

Self-Reported Antibiotics Usage, Allergies and Resistance of Albanian Patients from a Dental Perspective: A Preliminary Questionnaire-Based Survey.

Objectives: The paper aims to assess the level of antibiotic use and the antibiotic types used generally in dentistry and identify self-reported allergies and resistance related to them.

Methods: The data were collected between March and May 2024 via an electronic questionnaire on self-reported antibiotic usage, antibiotic allergies and resistances among individual in Albania.

Results: A total of 477 individuals (83% females, 17% males) with a mean 33 ± 13 (min 17; max 73) years of age completed the questionnaire.

Molecular Analysis of Peri-implant Soft Tissue Response to Different Abutment Materials in Humans: A Pilot Study.

Purpose: To evaluate the response of human peri-implant soft tissue (PIST) to different healing abutment materials 24 hours after positioning by assessing the expression of genes related to the early connective tissue wound healing response.

Materials And Methods: The following four materials were used to create experimental abutments that were mounted on implants placed in five patients (four different abutments in each patient): group A-grade 4 titanium (Ti), group B-grade 5 Ti, group C-zirconia (Zr), and group D-polyetheretherketone (PEEK). Before implant placement, a gingival biopsy (control, CT) sample was obtained using a 2-mm-diameter punch (T0).

Treatment of Residual Periodontal Pockets Using a Hyaluronic Acid-Based Gel: A 12 Month Multicenter Randomized Triple-Blinded Clinical Trial.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the adjunctive effect of hyaluronic acid (HA) gel in the treatment of residual periodontal pockets over a 12-month period. Periodontal patients presenting at least one residual periodontal pocket 5-9 mm of depth in the anterior area were recruited from six university-based centers. Each patient was randomly assigned to subgingival instrumentation (SI) with the local adjunctive use of HA for test treatment or adjunctive use of local placebo for control treatment at baseline and after 3 months.

Histologic Analysis of Clinically Healthy Human Gingiva in Patients with Altered Passive Eruption.

The purpose of this study was to histologically examine the clinically healthy gingiva of patients with altered passive eruption (APE). Five patients with type 1 APE were enrolled. They underwent scaling and polishing and received oral hygiene instructions.
