High Resolution Marine Magnetic Survey of Shallow Water Littoral Area.

The purpose of this paper is to present a system developed for detection andaccurate mapping of ferro-metallic objects buried below the seabed in shallow waters. Thesystem comprises a precise magnetic gradiometer and navigation subsystem, both installedon a non-magnetic catamaran towed by a low-magnetic interfering boat. In addition wepresent the results of a marine survey of a near-shore area in the vicinity of Atlit, a townsituated on the Mediterranean coast of Israel, about 15 km south of Haifa.

Neutron scattering reveals extremely slow cell water in a Dead Sea organism.

Intracellular water dynamics in Haloarcula marismortui, an extremely halophilic organism originally isolated from the Dead Sea, was studied by neutron scattering. The water in centrifuged cell pellets was examined by means of two spectrometers, IN6 and IN16, sensitive to motions with time scales of 10 ps and 1 ns, respectively. Adaptation to extreme environments: macromolecular dynamics in bacteria compared in vivo by neutron scattering.

Mean macromolecular dynamics was quantified in vivo by neutron scattering in psychrophile, mesophile, thermophile and hyperthermophile bacteria. Root mean square atomic fluctuation amplitudes determining macromolecular flexibility were found to be similar for each organism at its physiological temperature ( approximately 1 A in the 0.1 ns timescale).

Time domain dielectric spectroscopy study of human cells. II. Normal and malignant white blood cells.

The dielectric properties of human lymphocyte suspensions were studied by time domain dielectric spectroscopy (TDDS). Nine populations of malignant and normal lymphocytes were investigated. Analysis of the dielectric parameters of cell structural parts were performed in the framework of Maxwell-Wagner mixture formula and the double-shell model of cell.

Heterogeneity of reproductive tract abnormalities in men with absence of the vas deferens: role of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator gene mutations.

Objective: To determine if the types of reproductive tract abnormalities linked to absence of the vas deferens varies with the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) genotype.

Design: Prospective data gathering.
