The femoral artery remains the most used peripheral site for radiological catheter access. With a greater number of both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures being performed by interventional radiologists and cardiologists, and with larger catheters being used for stenting and endovascular grafting, the incidence of iatrogenic pseudo-aneurysms reported has reached as high as 0.5-2%.
