Evaluating the impact of CRBN mutations on response to immunomodulatory drugs and novel CRBN-binding agents in myeloma.

Immunomodulatory drug (IMiD) resistance is a key clinical challenge in myeloma treatment. Previous data suggests almost one third of myeloma patients acquire mutations in the key IMiD effector cereblon by the time they are pomalidomide refractory. Some events, including stop codons/frameshift mutations and copy loss, having clearly explicable effects on cereblon function.

The Role of Race/Ethnicity on the Association between Neighborhood Deprivation and Breast Cancer Outcomes among Kentucky Breast Cancer Patients years 2010-2022.

Background: Kentucky is within the top five leading states for breast mortality nationwide. This study investigates the association between neighborhood socioeconomic disadvantage and breast cancer outcomes, including surgical treatment, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and survival, and how associations vary by race and ethnicity in Kentucky.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort analysis using data from the Kentucky Cancer Registry (KCR) for breast cancer patients diagnosed between 2010 and 2017, with follow-up through December 31, 2022.

Despite initial effectiveness, patients inevitably develop disease progression as tumor cells acquire resistance.

First Measurement: Proactive Immune Cell Sparing in Radiation Therapy.

Purpose: Radiation Therapy (RT) can modulate the immune system and generate anti-tumor T cells. However, this anti-tumor-activity is countered by radiation-induced immunosuppression (RIIS). Clinical advantages of proactively sparing RT dose to immune rich organs have not previously been evaluated.

Response of capillaries and small arterioles to full-field flicker is not dependent on local ganglion cell thickness.

To measure the influence of ganglion cell layer (GCL) thickness on the changes in size and red blood cell (RBC) flow in small retinal vessels evoked by full-field flicker. We used a dual-beam adaptive optics scanning laser ophthalmoscope to image 11 healthy young controls in two retinal areas with significantly different GCL thicknesses. All capillaries and arterioles of the superficial vascular plexus were responsive to the flicker stimulation.
