Risk of Parametrial Spread in Small Stage I Cervical Carcinoma: Pathology Review of 223 Cases With a Tumor Diameter of 20 mm or Less.

Background: Considering the morbidity of radical hysterectomy, the advent of fertility-sparing approaches, and the low risk of parametrial involvement in patients with early stage I cervical tumors, the benefit from parametrial resection is debatable. Objectives of this study were to determine factors predicting parametrial tumor spread and to define a group of patients who might be safely spared parametrial resection.

Methods: Pathology review was done on patients with stages IA2 and small IB1, treated by radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection.

Ovary-preserving tumorectomy for immature teratoma in an adolescent--case report.

The authors present a case of a 14-year-old premenarchal girl with a large solid tumor of the left ovary. The rim of normal ovarian tissue was visible around the tumor on ultrasonography scan. Although the levels of two tumor markers, LDH and CA125, were elevated, the authors performed an organ-sparing tumorectomy.

The significance of 3D power Doppler in prenatal diagnosis and the evaluation of the anatomical structure of vein of Galen aneurysmatic malformation: case report.

Prenatal diagnosis of vein of Galen aneurysmatic malformation (VGAM) is made with the use of color Doppler, while in B-mode it is seen as a centrally placed supratentorial cystic structure. 3D-power Doppler (3D-PD) is a method that enables precise visualization of the vascular anatomy of this complex malformation. In our case, VGAM was detected in the 33rd week of gestation with power Doppler, and the use of 3D-PD enabled better visualization of the angioarchitecture and detection of feeding and drainage vessels of aneurysmatic widening.

The need for more workshops in laparoscopic surgery and surgical anatomy for European gynaecological oncology trainees: a survey by the European Network of Young Gynaecological Oncologists.

Objective: The objective of this study was to highlight the relative preference of European gynecologic oncology trainees for workshops that could support and supplement their training needs.

Methods: A Web-based survey was sent to 900 trainees on the European Network of Young Gynaecological Oncologists database in November 2011. Respondents were asked to rate a 13-item questionnaire (using a 1- to 5-point Likert scale) on workshop topics they felt would most benefit their training requirements.

The need for accredited training in gynaecological oncology: a report from the European Network of Young Gynaecological Oncologists (ENYGO).

Background: Primary data on training experiences of European gynaecological oncology trainees are lacking. This study aims to evaluate trainee profile, satisfaction and factors affecting the training experience in gynaecological oncology in Europe.
