The results of treatment of 77 patients with necrotic forms of acute pancreatitis are critically revised. The diagnostic algorithm of pancreonecrosis, consisting of ultrasound, computed scanning, magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography proved to be useful and effective. The Balthazar computed tomography severity index allows to prognose the course of the disease more accurately.

Analysis of radical surgical treatment results by means of laparoscopic cholecystectomy and cholecystectomy from modified mini-access in 203 patients from senior age group with acute cholecystitis is presented. Using experimental studies optimal localization of mini-access on the anterior abdominal cavity was proved. Taking into account the dynamics of stress hormones (prolactin and cortisol) level at mini-invasive radical operations it is proved that pneumoperitoneum is one of the most significant intraoperative aggressive factors.

A photochromic reaction in Zn-tetrabenzoporphyrine-doped poly(methyl methacrylate) was investigated at room temperature. A one-quantum thermoreversible photoreaction could be initiated in the sample with 633-nm He-Ne laser irradiation. The photoreaction quantum yield depended strongly on the concentration of an additional electron acceptor.

Recent measurements of carbon isotopes in carbon dioxide using near-infrared, diode-laser-based cavity ring-down spectroscopy (CRDS) are presented. The CRDS system achieved good precision, often better than 0.2 per thousand, for 4% CO2 concentrations, and also achieved 0.
