The molecular and QSAR (Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship) properties of title compound 2-((6-Methoxybenzo[d]thiazol-2-ylimino)methyl)-6-ethoxyphenol (HL) were evaluated employing HyperChem 7.5 tools. The interaction of the complexes of HL with calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) was investigated by absorption titrations, Fluorescence quenching and viscosity measurements.

The compound N-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-1-ethyl-1, 4-dihydro-7-methyl-4-oxo-1, 8 naphthyridine-3-carbohydrazide (LH) and its Cu (II), Co (II) and Zn (II) complexes were synthesized and characterized. The absorption spectral titrations and competitive DNA binding studies depicted those complexes of title compound bind to CT-DNA through intercalation. Interestingly [Cu (II)-(L2)] showed relatively high binding constant value (6.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on developing and analyzing metal complexes (Cu (II), Cd (II), Ce (IV), and Zr (IV)) using a specific imine derivative, including their DNA interaction, photo-cleavage, and antioxidant properties.
  • Characterization techniques such as EDX, IR, and NMR were used to confirm the synthesis of these complexes, while spectrophotometric methods assessed their reactivity and interactions with DNA, revealing a tendency to intercalate.
  • The results indicated that these metal complexes exhibit significant antibacterial activity and dose-dependent cytotoxicity in cell lines, suggesting potential for new therapeutic drug development, bolstered by molecular modeling and docking studies to understand receptor interactions.

The mixed ligand complexes MLA of Cu(II) and Co(II) with Schiff base derived from 4-amino antipyrine and 5-NO(2) salicylaldehyde (2,3 -dimethyl-1-phenyl-4-(2-hydroxy-5-nitro benzylideneamino)-pyrazol-5-one) as ONO donor (L) and A = 2,2 bipyridine (bpy),1,10 phenonthroline (1,10 phen) as N, N donor ligands have been prepared, owing to their biological and other applications. The structural features have arrived from their elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance, Mass, IR, UV-VIS, powdered XRD and ESR spectral studies, that established MLA type of composition for the metal complexes. The electronic absorption spectral data of the complexes suggest an octahedral geometry around the central metal ion.
