Background: A lack of social support contributes to women from culturally diverse backgrounds experiencing higher rates of perinatal distress and lower rates of service engagement.
Objective/methods: This participatory action research study aimed to understand what a culturally appropriate social intervention may look like for pregnant women from culturally diverse backgrounds. Field notes and qualitative transcripts were descriptively synthesised.
Background: Diabetes self-management education and support can be effectively and efficiently delivered in primary care in the form of shared medical appointments (SMAs). Comparative effectiveness of SMA delivery features such as topic choice, multi-disciplinary care teams, and peer mentor involvement is not known.
Objective: To compare effects of standardized and patient-driven models of diabetes SMAs on patient-level diabetes outcomes.
Objectives: Effective communication amongst healthcare workers simultaneously promotes optimal patient outcomes when present and is deleterious to outcomes when absent. The advent of electronic health record (EHR)-embedded secure instantaneous messaging systems has provided a new conduit for provider communication. Failure to accurately gather these data can impede learner progression, delay procedures, and negatively impact patient safety.
Objective: To examine accuracy and procedure logging completeness of a system that extracts procedural data from an electronic health record system and uploads these data securely to an application used by many residency programs for accreditation.
