A pesticide-free model soil was pretreated with field-realistic doses/applications of the insecticide, Biscaya 240 OD; the fungicide Tilmor; the growth regulator, Atonik and their mixture. Because Folsomia candida is eyeless, unpigmented, avoids light, and prefers dark, wet and cold conditions, we grew and tested it in the dark and at 18°C. Survival of springtails added to soil at 50 % moisture was assessed after 28 days.

Naturally, larger items are filtered, and a lower ratio between specific and nonspecific binding is expected since small pores do not allow larger elements to penetrate through membranes; thus, nonspecific binding is enhanced. We prepared and tested fiber membranes (diameter cca 700 nm) functionalized with a specific antibody to prove that even microscopic systems such as bacteria could be specifically identified.

The novel personal protection equipment based on a face mask equipped with a nanofiber filter functionalized with povidone iodine has been developed and tested in a clinical trial. This nanofiber filter was characterized with a low flow resistance and, thus, allowed comfortable breathing. The performed study proved that the novel nanofiber filter with incorporated povidone-iodine was characterized with a slow release of iodine which minimized side effects but kept disinfection efficiency.

A single genome is commonly utilized in custom proteomic and proteogenomic data analysis. We pose the question of whether utilizing numerous different genome assemblies in a search database would be beneficial.
