- A well-defined calf aortic endothelial cell line was used to evaluate the mitogenic activities of various tissue preparations, including extracts from pig corpora lutea and chorioallantoic membrane.
- The study found that under optimal conditions, CL-S3, CM-S4, and CAM preparations significantly increased cell growth, with CM-S4 showing a 20-fold increase in mitogenic activity compared to CL-S3.
- Additionally, under suboptimal conditions, CL-S3 still stimulated cell proliferation significantly, highlighting the potential use of these preparations in angiogenesis research and as alternatives to reduce serum in cell cultures.
As sources for cell growth factors with polypeptide nature sera, organs and conditioned culture media can be used. A few samples of such factors are listed in this report. Their main effects on cultured cells consist in the stimulation of DNA-synthesis and proliferation.
