Clinical perspective on innovative insulin delivery technologies in diabetes management.

Introduction: The primary objective of this study is to report the results of an online questionnaire and the in-person discussion sessions of physicians specializing in diabetes care in which their opinions about current diabetes management was obtained.

Methods: The Diabetes Innovation Summit 2023 drew attendance from a diverse group of specialized physicians from multiple countries. A comprehensive literature review was conducted to examine the technologies and medical needs associated with diabetes management.

Case report: A particularly rare case of endogenous hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia complicated with pregnancy treated with short-acting somatostatin analog injections.

Hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia is a rare disease, and only two cases complicated with pregnancy were published previously when our patient became pregnant. We introduce a successful management of a pregnancy in a patient with endogenous hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia, a condition also known as non-insulinoma pancreatogenous hypoglycemia syndrome or formerly as nesidioblastosis. A 29-year-old female patient was treated with endogenous hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia since the age of 4 months, taking daily 3 × 75 mg diazoxide, which adds up to 225 mg per day.

Predictors of Hospital Mortality in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome Complicated by Cardiogenic Shock.

As demonstrated by earlier studies, pre-hospital triage with trans-telephonic electrocardiogram (TTECG) and direct referral for catheter therapy shows great value in the management of out-of-hospital chest pain emergencies. It does not only improve in-hospital mortality in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction, but it has also been identified as an independent predictor of higher in-hospital survival rate. Since TTECG-facilitated triage shortens both transport time and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)-related procedural time intervals, it was hypothesized that even high-risk patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and cardiogenic shock (CS) might also benefit from TTECG-based triage.

True MEN1 or phenocopy? Evidence for geno-phenotypic correlations in MEN1 syndrome.

Purpose: Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 is a rare tumor syndrome caused by germline mutations of MEN1 gene. Phenotype varies widely, and no definitive correlation with the genotype has been observed. Mutation-negative patients with MEN1-associated tumors represent phenocopies.

The transtelephonic electrocardiogram-based triage is an independent predictor of decreased hospital mortality in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention.

Introduction: The transtelephonic electrocardiogram has been shown to have a great value in the management of out-of-hospital chest pain emergencies. In our previous study it not only improved the pre-hospital medical therapy and time to intervention, but also the in-hospital mortality in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. It was hypothesised that the higher in-hospital survival rate could be due to improved transtelephonic electrocardiogram-based pre-hospital management (electrocardiogram interpretation and teleconsultation) and consequently, better coronary perfusion of patients at the time of hospital admission.
