Indications for diagnostic whole-body iodine scan: a review of guidelines.

Objectives: Here, we have compiled all key statements derived from these guidelines and delved into details on which scenarios the diagnostic whole-body iodine scan (DxWBIS) might be useful.

Methods: We identified all relevant guidelines by searching the MEDLINE/PubMed databases, Google Scholar, and Ovid from 2006 onwards using keywords related to DxWBIS, RxWBIS, iodine scintigraphy, and iodine scan. We excluded case reports/series, original articles, and clinical trials while including guidelines or consensus opinions.

Prevalence of Species on Cattle Breeding Farms in Zimbabwe.

Infertility remains a challenge in breeding herds in most developing countries. In the current study, 104 penile sheath washes were collected from bulls of different breeds and ages from different cattle breeding farms in Zimbabwe. The samples were submitted to the Central Veterinary Laboratory, Zimbabwe, for screening of species using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Non-Cutaneous Melanoma, Findings and Prognostic Value of FDG PET/CT: A Case Series of 23 patients and review of the literature.

Objectives: Non-cutaneous malignant melanomas (NCM) are rare malignancies. Due to their nonspecific symptoms, they present later in life. The value of FDG PET/CT in this group of patients is not clear.

68Ga-DOTATATE Uptake in an Intraosseous Hemangioma, as a Potential Cause of False-Positive PET/CT Finding, Simulating Tumoral Involvement.

We present the case of a 32-year-old man with a history of hypophosphatemia and multiple bone fractures, being evaluated at our center for a potential mesenchymal tumor. 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT revealed a highly 68Ga-DOTATATE-avid lesion in the ethmoidal sinus extending to the nasal cavity. Following resection, histologic examination of the specimen confirmed the diagnosis of "intraosseous hemangioma," a potential cause of false-positive finding of 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT imaging in patients being evaluated for occult malignancies, especially at the traumatic/fractured sites.

Programmatic challenges in managing multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in Malawi.

Background: Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is one of the most urgent challenges that Malawi tends to take a firm public health action. A recent increase in multidrug MDR-TB cases, a decrease in treatment success rate, and a double increase of lost-to-follow-up call into question the country's programmatic management of MDR-TB (PMDT). As such, the study aimed at exploring programmatic challenges in managing MDR-TB in Malawi.
