A theoretical analysis of professionalism in health promotion with a focus on the Swiss context.

The pressing global health crises highlight the need for professional health promotion (HP). Debates on the professionalization of HP are still overlaid by questions regarding the conceptualization of HP, yet literature is scarce regarding this point. Therefore, this article aims to (a) provide an overview of the current state of professionalism in HP with a focus on the Swiss context, and (b) identify facilitators, gaps and barriers of professionalism in HP.

Modelling the results of health promotion activities in Switzerland: development of the Swiss Model for Outcome Classification in Health Promotion and Prevention.

This paper describes the Model for Outcome Classification in Health Promotion and Prevention adopted by Health Promotion Switzerland (SMOC, Swiss Model for Outcome Classification) and the process of its development. The context and method of model development, and the aim and objectives of the model are outlined. Preliminary experience with application of the model in evaluation planning and situation analysis is reported.

[Model for the systematic classification of outcomes in health promotion and prevention].

Successful demonstration of the effects of health promotion calls for systematic documentation and comparison of the outcome of different measures and projects. A model has been developed in the form of an outcome categorisation system for this purpose and is presented here. The model includes four categories covering the intermediate outcomes of health promotion measures, and three categories for outcomes at the level of health determinants (conditions necessary for health).

[A quality culture for health promotion!].

Quality and quality management are omnipresent as notions in the daily life of projects but there exists neither a clear conception nor a homogeneous quality understanding. This expresses the fact that a critical and self-reflecting project culture is not rooted strongly enough. A good project and quality management is indispensable to optimize the goal attainment.
