Transforming body composition with semaglutide in adults with obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Background: Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor-agonists (GLP-1ra), such as semaglutide, have emerged as promising treatments, demonstrating sustained weight reduction and metabolic benefits. This study aims to assess the impact of oral and subcutaneous semaglutide on body composition and metabolic parameters in patients with T2DM and obesity.

Methods: A 24-week quasi-experimental retrospective study including adults with T2DM and obesity (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m²) who were treated with either daily-oral or weekly-subcutaneous semaglutide.

Impact of Flash Glucose Monitoring on the Fear of Hypoglycemia Phenomenon in Adults with Type 1 Diabetes.

To assess the clinical impact of flash glucose monitoring (FGM) systems on fear of hypoglycemia (FoH) and quality of life in adults with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). Prospective quasi-experimental study with a 12-month follow-up. People with T1DM (18-80 years old) and self-monitoring by blood capillary glycemia controls were included.

Clinical profile of severe hypercholesterolemia in 156,000 adults in primary care.

Objective: To examine the frequency of severe hypercholesterolemia (HS) and its clinical profile, and the phenotype of familial hypercholesterolemia (FH), in the primary-care setting in a large health area of the Community of Madrid (CAM).

Material And Methods: Multicenter study of subjects with a health card assigned to 69 health centers (Northwest/CAM area). HS was defined as cholesterol ≥300mg/dL or LDL-cholesterol ≥220mg/dL in any analysis performed (1-1-2018 to 12-30-2021); and FH phenotype as c-LDL ≥240mg/dL (≥160mg/dL if lipid-lowering treatment) with triglycerides <200mg/dL and TSH <5μIU/mL.

Effects of Non-Ablative Solid-State Vaginal Laser (SSVL) for the Treatment of Vulvovaginal Atrophy in Breast Cancer Survivors after Adjuvant Aromatase Inhibitor Therapy: Preliminary Results.

Background: One of the side effects of anti-estrogen treatments in breast cancer survivors (BCSs), especially with aromatase inhibitor (AI) treatment, is the frequent appearance of vulvo-vaginal atrophy (VVA). We aim to evaluate the efficacy, safety and feasibility of a new type of non-ablative Solid-State Vaginal Laser (SSVL) treatment in BCSs with VVA.

Methods: A total of 30 BCSs with a history of AI use and symptoms of VVA were treated with a non-ablative SSVL (LASEmaR 1500™-EUFOTON)in this non-randomized pilot study.
