Article Synopsis
  • The review examines the oral health issues faced by heart transplant patients who are on immunosuppressive therapy, focusing on their oral manifestations.
  • A comprehensive literature search identified 402 studies, of which 13 were relevant and included; these studies mainly highlighted periodontal diseases and drug-induced gingival enlargement as common issues.
  • The findings suggest that while drug-induced gingival enlargement is the most frequently reported oral manifestation, other issues like oral cancer and infections were noted less often, indicating variability in research quality and outcomes.

Perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells offer the possibility of overcoming the power conversion efficiency limit of conventional silicon solar cells. Various textured tandem devices have been presented aiming at improved optical performance, but optimizing film growth on surface-textured wafers remains challenging. Here we present perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells with periodic nanotextures that offer various advantages without compromising the material quality of solution-processed perovskite layers.

Objective: To determine the efficacy, safety, and durability of the use of AHCC supplementation for 6 months to support the host immune system to clear high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infections. The AHCC supplement is a proprietary, standardized extract of cultured lentinula edodes mycelia (AHCC, Amino Up, Ltd., Sapporo, Japan) that has been shown to have unique immune modulatory benefits.

Article Synopsis
  • A standardized approach was adopted by the Brazilian Committee for Treatment and Research in MS to assess multiple sclerosis (MS) prevalence in five representative cities across Brazil, aiming for better comparability.
  • In Passo Fundo, on July 1, 2015, researchers identified 52 MS patients, resulting in a point-prevalence rate of 26.4/100,000 people, with a significant majority being female and mostly diagnosed with relapsing-remitting MS.
  • The findings indicate that Passo Fundo has one of the highest MS prevalence rates reported in Brazil, and further studies in other cities using the same methodology are planned.

Using advanced near-UV photoemission spectroscopy (PES) in constant final state mode (CFSYS) with a very high dynamic range, we investigate the triple-cation lead halide perovskite Cs(MAFA)Pb(IBr) and gain detailed insights into the density of occupied states (DOS) in the valence band and band gap. A valence band model is established which includes the parabolic valence band edge and an exponentially decaying band tail in a single equation. This allows us to precisely determine two valence band maxima (VBM) at different -vectors in the angle-integrated spectra, where the highest one, resulting from the VBM at the -point in the Brillouin zone, is found between -1.
