Outcomes of Standard-Risk Multiple Myeloma Patients Who Undergo Upfront Autologous Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation.

Background: Patients with multiple myeloma without high-risk cytogenetic abnormalities are classified as having standard-risk MM (SRMM), and data focusing on their outcomes after autologous stem-cell transplantation (autoHCT) are limited.

Objective: To evaluate survival outcomes for patients with SRMM receiving autoHCT, and to elucidate factors that impact these outcomes.

Study Design: Single-center retrospective analysis that included consecutive MM patients who received upfront autoHCT between 2013-2021, had available cytogenetic information and had no high-risk chromosomal abnormalities on fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), defined as t(4;14), t(14;16), del(17p) or 1q21 gain or amplification.

Prevalence of antihypertensive medication adherence and associated factors in India: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Non-adherence to antihypertensive medication is a key factor contributing to uncontrolled blood pressure and the subsequent complications of hypertension. Despite its importance, there is a lack of data regarding the prevalence of and factors associated with non-adherence to medication among individuals with hypertension in India. This review aimed to assess medication adherence rates among hypertensive patients in India and identify the factors influencing non-adherence.

Open laminectomy plus posterolateral fusion versus open laminectomy plus transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion surgical approaches for fusing degenerated L4-L5 segment: A comparative finite element study.

Various finite element (FE) studies reported the biomechanical effects of fusion surgeries in the lumbar spine. However, a comparative study on Open laminectomy plus Posterolateral Fusion (OL-PLF) and Open Laminectomy plus Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (OL-TLIF) for fusing an L4-L5 segment has not been reported in the literature. The present comparative FE study evaluates the biomechanical variations in an L4-L5 segment fused using OL-PLF and OL-TLIF surgical approaches.

Changes in Waveguiding Cone Photoreceptors and Color Vision in Patients With Diabetes Mellitus.

Purpose: Although it is well known that photoreceptor damage and color vision loss occur in patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR), the relationship between structural and functional changes in diabetes mellitus (DM) remains unclear. Using highly sensitive measures of photoreceptor structure and function, we aim to determine whether early loss of color sensitivity in DM is also accompanied by decreased cone density.

Methods: Monocular data from 26 patients with DM and 25 healthy controls were examined to assess cone photoreceptor metrics, using confocal adaptive optics scanning light ophthalmoscopy, and red/green (RG) and yellow/blue (YB) color vision thresholds, using the Colour Assessment and Diagnosis test.

Combination Therapy for Post-Kala-Azar Dermal Leishmaniasis: A Literature Review of Current Evidence.

Post-kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL) is a neglected skin disease that has tremendous epidemiological significance as a reservoir of Leishmania parasites. Relapse, drug resistance, non-compliance to prolonged treatment, poor health-seeking behaviour, along with limited therapeutic options pose a significant impact on the management of PKDL. In this study, we aimed to review the efficacy, safety and tolerability data of combination therapies for PKDL in the published literature.
