Candida albicans are prioritised top among other pathogens in mediating vaginal inflammation and its related symptoms. Candida albicans exerts its virulence by secreting the enzyme known as secreted aspartyl proteinases (SAP) which allows hassle-free adherence and growth of the opportunistic pathogen.
