Many aspects of IgG4-related diseases were initially described during the late 19th and early 20th century. A variety of clinical presentations caused by this common pathology have been named after the researchers who first described the disorders, such as Mikulicz, Küttner, Riedel or Ormond. However, the initial description of retroperitoneal fibrosis dates back to even 50 years earlier, when in 1846, the Prussian private practitioner Raphael Jakob Kosch described a hitherto unknown constellation of symptoms and pathological findings in a famous patient.

Background: Individuals with anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPAs) and subclinical inflammatory changes in joints are at high risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis. Background: Data on the training and continuing education situation of residents in the field of internal medicine and rheumatology are not available for Germany. For this reason, the Commission for Education and Training of the German Society of Rheumatology (DGRh) initiated the BEWUSST survey on the working, training and research conditions of residents in rheumatology.

Methods: A total of 102 questions on the topics of working conditions in everyday professional life, continuing medical education and training, compatibility of career and family, compatibility of work and research, perspectives as a rheumatologist and practical activities were included in an online questionnaire.
