Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and its variants are a continuous threat to human life. An urgent need remains for simple and fast tests that reliably detect active infections with SARS-CoV-2 and its variants in the early stage of infection. Here we introduce a simple and rapid activity-based diagnostic (ABDx) test that identifies SARS-CoV-2 infections by measuring the activity of a viral enzyme, Papain-Like protease (PLpro).

Evaluating dermal absorption of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and implications for other per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

To date, only four studies directly measured dermal absorption kinetics of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) in human skin. Reported kinetic parameters spanned two to five orders of magnitude, demonstrating the need to determine the causes of variability and identify the most appropriate dermal absorption factors for use in exposure assessments. We evaluated the reliability and physiological relevance of studies that measured PFOA fractional absorption, steady-state flux (J), and dermal permeability coefficient (K).

Eligible studies reported PFP patients over 18 years of age undergoing an exercise protocol with additional taping that was maintained outside of exercise sessions (PROSPERO ID: CRD42023422792).

Contributions of Hemolytic Proteins in Virulent Aeromonas hydrophila to Motile Aeromonas Septicemia Disease of Channel Catfish (Ictalurus punctatus).

Hemolytic proteins are a major group of virulence factors in pathogenic Aeromonas hydrophila. Six genes encoding presumable hemolytic proteins were revealed from the genome of virulent A. hydrophila (vAh) that caused severe disease in channel catfish.

Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) are a common consequence of experiencing intimate partner violence (IPV). IPV-related TBI contributes to adverse health outcomes among women, but it is unknown whether a history of IPV-related TBI negatively impacts safety outcomes following healthcare-based interventions for IPV. Using data from a larger randomized clinical trial, we explored the impact of IPV-related TBI status on safety-related outcomes in two healthcare-based IPV interventions.
