Primates spend on average half as much energy as other placental mammals while expressing a wide range of lifestyles. However, little is known about how primates adapt their rate of energy use in the context of natural environmental variations. Using doubly labelled water, behavioral and accelerometric methods, we measured the total energy expenditure (TEE) and body composition of a population of Eulemur fulvus (N = 12) living in an agroforest in Mayotte.

Determinants of quality of life in French nursing home residents across cognitive levels: a comparative study using convergent mixed-methods.

Background: The quality of life (QoL) of nursing home residents is multifaceted and influenced by relationships, health, and activities, as per research in international literature. However, studies exploring QoL predictors considering varying cognitive impairment levels are limited in the French context. This study examined the impact of sociodemographic factors and cognitive impairment on the QoL in Alzheimer's Disease Nursing Homes (QoL-AD NH) scale scores among French nursing home residents.

The experience of albinism in France: a qualitative study on dyads of parents and their adult child with albinism.

Background: To date, almost no research on the psychosocial implications of albinism has been conducted in France and an exploration of albinism-related experiences could be beneficial, in order to better understand this condition. The aim of this study was to examine how French people with albinism and their parents live with and adapt to this condition in all the areas of their lives.

Methods: Semi-structured phone interviews were conducted with 9 parent-child dyads, each participating separately.

[When workplace becomes the place where a relative with cancer is cared: How do caregiver, patient and healthcare professionals interact?].

Introduction: Three clinical situations explored the interactions between patients treated for cancer in oncology, their family caregivers working as doctors or nurses in the same establishment or service, and the healthcare team providing the patient's care, as well as the repercussions of such a context on these three players.

Methods: In each situation, the patient, the family caregiver and a member of the team were interviewed using a semi-directive interview guide. The 8 interviews were recorded and transcribed in full, then subjected to thematic content analysis.
