Article Synopsis
  • A 40-year-old woman with no prior thyroid issues developed Graves' disease (GD) after undergoing controlled ovarian stimulation (OS) for infertility, despite normal thyroid function tests before the last cycle.
  • Six weeks post-OS, she experienced severe hyperthyroidism with positive anti-thyrotropin receptor antibodies, confirming a GD diagnosis, and started anti-thyroid treatment.
  • Thyroid function remained suboptimal after a year of treatment, leading to a recommendation to postpone further OS cycles until her thyroid condition improved, with possible consideration of surgery if she still wanted to become pregnant.

Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic non-inflammatory disorder mainly characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and a constellation of other symptoms. For this reason, delineating a clear distinction between pure FM and FM-like picture attributable to other common diseases can be extremely challenging. Physicians must identify the most significant confounders in individual patients and implement an appropriate diagnostic workflow, carefully choosing a minimal (but sufficient) set of tests to be used for identifying the most plausible diseases in the specific case.

Plasma from individuals recovered from COVID-19 (COVID-19 convalescent plasma, CCP) was the first therapeutic tool adopted to counteract the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). In this retrospective cohort study, we report the experience of the city hospital of Mantua, Lombardy region, on the compassionate use of CCP in patients hospitalized for severe COVID-19.

Purpose: As suggested by findings of abnormal responses to posture in patients with normal-tension glaucoma (NTG), cardiovascular autoregulation may also be defective in primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG).

Patients And Methods: Both 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and the head-up tilt test were performed in 17 subjects with NTG and in 13 subjects with high-tension POAG (ht-POAG). These groups were compared with 17 age-matched healthy individuals.
