Background: Modern radiation therapy techniques, such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT), use complex fluence modulation strategies to achieve optimal patient dose distribution. Ensuring their accuracy necessitates rigorous patient-specific quality assurance (PSQA), traditionally done through pretreatment measurements with detector arrays. While effective, these methods are labor-intensive and time-consuming.

The U1 snRNP complex recognizes pre-mRNA splicing sites in the early stages of spliceosome assembly and suppresses premature cleavage and polyadenylation. Its dysfunction may precede Alzheimer's disease (AD) hallmarks. Here we evaluated the effects of a synthetic single-stranded cDNA (APT20TTMG) that interacts with U1 snRNP, in iPSC-derived neurons from a donor diagnosed with AD and in the SAMP8 mouse model.

: Nuclear fragmentation generates a diverse dosimetric environment in the path ofC ion beams. Concise parametrization of the beam's composition is paramount for determining key correction factors in clinical dosimetry. This study sets out to provide such a parametrization based on detailed Monte Carlo simulations of clinically relevantC beams.

Article Synopsis
  • The ZAP-X system is an innovative radiosurgical option using a 3 MV linear accelerator and varying collimator cone sizes aimed at early-stage treatments, which minimizes harm to healthy tissue.
  • A new 3 mm collimator cone has been developed for the ZAP-X, and the study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a commercial diode detector, the microSilicon, for measuring dosimetric properties and understanding the small field effects.
  • Results indicate that the microSilicon detector accurately characterizes the 3 mm beam's dosimetric properties, with high correlation between measurements from the detector and films, confirming its suitability for small field conditions in radiosurgery.
