First evidence of molecular response of the shrimp Hippolyte inermis to biodegradable microplastics.

The increasing demand for sustainable alternatives to conventional plastics has propelled the interest in bioplastics. A few papers reported on the effects of plastics on crustaceans, but no indication about biodegradable polymers is available. Hippolyte inermis Leach, 1816 is a protandric shrimp commonly living on leaves of the seagrass Posidonia oceanica, in the Mediterranean Sea.

Cognitive changes in post-stroke depression patients undergoing treatment with transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS): an exploratory, ancillary analysis of a randomized, sham-controlled clinical trial.

Objective: Post-stroke depression (PSD) affects approximately 40% of stroke survivors, with cognitive deficits being frequently observed. Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) has shown promise in improving cognitive performance in stroke patients. We explored the effects of tDCS on cognitive performance in PSD.

Small variant benchmark from a complete assembly of X and Y chromosomes.

The sex chromosomes contain complex, important genes impacting medical phenotypes, but differ from the autosomes in their ploidy and large repetitive regions. To enable technology developers along with research and clinical laboratories to evaluate variant detection on male sex chromosomes X and Y, we create a small variant benchmark set with 111,725 variants for the Genome in a Bottle HG002 reference material. We develop an active evaluation approach to demonstrate the benchmark set reliably identifies errors in challenging genomic regions and across short and long read callsets.

Cross-Sectional Analyses to Assess the Clinical Safety and Effectiveness of Bisoprolol in Patients With Non-obstructive Coronary Artery Disease Who Underwent Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: A Post-hoc Analysis.

Introduction: Elevated central aortic pressure, cardiac output and peripheral vascular resistance contribute to high morbidity in relation to end organ dysfunction in obstructive and non-obstructive coronary artery disease (NOCAD) cases despite revascularization. Bisoprolol preempts further progression of left ventricular dysfunction in such cases due to anti-ischemic and anti-hypertensive effects, further extending its evaluation in local Indian settings.

Methods: Post-hoc analyses of NOCAD patients with epicardial stenosis (N=378, 30 to 70% stenosis) from cross-sectional analyses conducted across eighty centers in India.
