Treatment of Freiberg's disease by Gauthier's dorsal cuneiform osteotomy: Retrospective study of 30 cases.

Introduction: Freiberg's disease is osteonecrosis of the dorsal side of a metatarsal head. The gold-standard surgical treatment is the osteotomy procedure first described by Gauthier.

Hypothesis: Gauthier osteotomy for Freiberg's disease will restore the joint space and lead to long-term clinical improvement.

Anterior approach versus posterior approach to surgical treatment of children's supracondylar fractures: comparative study of thirty cases in each series.

The purpose of this study was to consider the surgical treatment of severe supracondylar fractures of the elbow in children, and to compare the anterior approach with the posterior approach used in two homogeneous groups of 30 cases each by two experienced surgeons. Control procedures were maintained with the children of both groups when the plaster was removed, during the fourth month after surgery, and throughout the follow-up that continued for more than 1 year. A posterior approach to surgery is simpler than an anterior approach, but it creates supplementary anatomic damage that can cause circulatory disorders in the external condyle and a higher percentage of limitation in articulation mobility.

[Static instability and dislocation of the 2nd metatarsophalangeal joint. Comparative analysis of 2 different therapeutic modalities].

Purpose Of The Study: The authors report the results of instabilities and dislocations treatment of the second metatarsophalangeal joint using two different surgical methods.

Material And Methods: This study included 129 patients (131 feet) with 19 instabilities, 43 subluxations and 69 dislocations of the second metatarsophalangeal joint. The first group of 66 patients (75 feet operated before 1994) had an arthrolysis using a dorsal approach associated to a lengthening of the tendon extensor digitorum longus.
