Geriatric Pharmacotherapy Case Series: Recurrent Angioedema Following Discontinuation of ACE Inhibitor Therapy.

Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) are first-line pharmaceutical agents in common chronic conditions such as hypertension and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. When angioedema occurs, if secondary to ACEIs, discontinuation of the ACEI is necessary to mitigate the risk of recurrent angioedema. While angioedema is a well-known adverse effect of ACEIs, it is not well-known that angioedema may recur even after ACEI discontinuation.

Atrial invasion from primary lung adenocarcinoma extension the pulmonary vein.

Intravascular extension of lung adenocarcinoma is one of the four defined routes of metastasis to the heart but is rarely described in the literature. This is a rare case of primary lung adenocarcinoma with intravenous extension to the left atrium via the pulmonary vein. A 56-year-old female presented to the hospital with chest tightness and dyspnea.

Structural basis for ligand and heparin binding to neuropilin B domains.

Neuropilin (Nrp) is a cell surface receptor with essential roles in angiogenesis and axon guidance. Interactions between Nrp and the positively charged C termini of its ligands, VEGF and semaphorin, are mediated by Nrp domains b1 and b2, which share homology to coagulation factor domains. We report here the crystal structure of the tandem b1 and b2 domains of Nrp-1 (N1b1b2) and show that they form a single structural unit.
