The failure of slopes due to various natural processes or extensive mining activities is a common problem that has an adverse impact on the environment and may result in severe casualties. Despite taking all the geotechnical considerations for the safe design of slopes, there could be unpredictable slope failure because of unexpected weather, seismic activities, or involvement of unidentified geological structures. Thus, continuous monitoring, forecasting, and warning of slope failures are imperative to save lives and property from devastation.

Article Synopsis
  • The text discusses various neurodegenerative diseases, highlighting their impact on the central nervous system (CNS) and specific brain functions like memory and mobility due to neuron loss.
  • It highlights the role of phytochemicals, particularly Berberin, Physostigmine, Morphine, and Isorhyncophylline, in preventing or treating Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases by targeting neuroinflammation and improving cognitive functions.
  • Berberin and Physostigmine have properties that inhibit harmful enzymes and promote neuroprotection, while Morphine and Isorhyncophylline also show significant benefits in managing symptoms and reducing toxicity related to these diseases.

A conformal reflective metasurface fed by a dual-band multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna is proposed for low-cost beam steering applications in 5G Millimeter-wave frequency bands. The beam steering is accomplished by selecting a specific port of MIMO antenna. Each MIMO port is associated with a beam that points in a different direction due to a conformal reflective metasurface.

Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology is extensively used in indoor navigation, medical applications, and Internet of Things devices due to its low power consumption and resilience against multipath fading and losses. This paper examines a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), circularly polarized (CP) dielectric resonator antenna for UWB systems. Compact form factor, high gain, wideband response, improved port isolation, and high data rates are the major design goals.

Article Synopsis
  • Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is crucial in oral and maxillofacial radiology due to its 3D imaging abilities and lower radiation exposure compared to traditional CT scans.
  • A retrospective study over 5 years analyzed 500 CBCT scans, focusing on patient demographics and the reasons for scans, such as implant planning and impacted tooth assessment.
  • The findings revealed a steady increase in CBCT usage, especially for implant planning, and highlighted patterns based on age and specific indications, indicating CBCT's growing role in enhancing diagnostic accuracy and treatment planning in clinical practice.
