This study aimed to assess the spatial distribution of cortical bone canals' network through the analysis of lacunarity (Lac), fractal dimension (FD), and canal morphological parameters in the mandible (IR group, n = 7) of human patients under radiotherapy in comparison with non-irradiated younger (yC group, n = 8) and older (oC group, n = 8) individuals. Patients who underwent mandibular surgery were selected to have bone fragments removed during surgery, and undecalcified histological slides were analyzed by phase-contrast microscopy by two operators. The following morphological parameters were assessed in the Haversian canal (Ca): area (Ca·Ar, μm), perimeter (Ca·Pm, μm), and circularity (Ca.

Article Synopsis
  • - The MCM8 gene is crucial for repairing DNA breaks and maintaining cell health, and its dysfunction can lead to cell death, especially in relation to primary ovarian insufficiency.
  • - The study aimed to evaluate a specific variant of the MCM8 gene (NG_042869.1:g.40270G>A) in women with primary ovarian insufficiency by comparing samples from affected individuals to those from a control group.
  • - Results showed the variant was present in one sample from the case group but absent in the control group, indicating it may be a rare, pathogenic variant associated with primary ovarian insufficiency in the studied population.

Article Synopsis
  • - Non-septic olecranon bursitis (NSOB) is inflammation of the olecranon bursa that usually resolves on its own, while septic olecranon bursitis (SOB) is caused by bacterial infections and presents with serious systemic symptoms needing medical attention.
  • - A case study highlighted a 24-year-old woman with disseminated cryptococcal infection due to bilateral SOB, which is uncommon in healthy individuals; she underwent surgery and received antifungal treatment, leading to positive outcomes.
  • - Infections like SOB from rare pathogens can be tricky to diagnose, especially in immunocompetent patients, making it essential to involve specialists for proper management and to prevent long-term complications.

Objective: To describe the trocar disposition, docking angles, surgical times, functional outcomes, and complications experienced during the first 30 surgeries with Hugo RAS platform performed by a high-volume Da Vinci Xi's surgeon.

Methods: Retrospective, observational, descriptive study was performed between May-December 2023. Safety and feasibility of the procedures were evaluated considering console and docking time (minutes), perioperative complications (Clavien-Dindo classification), blood loss (mL), and collision of the arms during the procedures (Yes/No).
