Craniometaphyseal dysplasia is a rare congenital sclerosing skeletal dysplasia that presents with facial dimorphism and is clinically described by prominent supraorbital bridges, severe retrognathia, and respiratory problems. Fronto-orbital cranioplasty is necessary to achieve satisfactory aesthetic outcomes. The supraorbital arches were exposed to the nasal bone through coronal access, with the help of a saw and a wear drill, and osteotomy of the frontal and orbital regions with hyperostosis was performed.

An alternative in an attempt to minimize the effects triggered by intravenous (IV) bolus administration of α-2 adrenergic receptor agonists are continuous rate infusions (CRI). The requirement for sedation protocols in sheep for procedures to be performed without physical restraint and with reduced adverse effects, commonly observed with bolus use, justifies the study of CRI. The aim of study was to compare the cardiopulmonary and sedative effects of IV bolus injection and CRI of dexmedetomidine (DEX) in sheep.

The aim the present study was to investigate the impact of novel pentavalent organobismuth and organoantimony complexes on membrane integrity and their interaction with DNA, activity against Sb(III)-sensitive and -resistant Leishmania strains and toxicity in mammalian peritoneal macrophages. PhM(L) type complexes were synthesized, where M = Sb(V) or Bi(V) and L = deprotonated 3-(dimethylamino)benzoic acid or 2-acetylbenzoic acid. Both organobismuth(V) and organoantimony(V) complexes exhibited efficacy at micromolar concentrations against Leishmania amazonensis and L.

Wastewater irrigation is a common practice for agricultural systems in arid and semiarid zones, which can help to overcome water scarcity and contribute with nutrient inputs. Ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) and archaea (AOA) are key in the transformation of NH4+-N in soil and can be affected by variations in soil pH, EC, N and C content, or accumulation of pollutants, derived from wastewater irrigation. The objective of this study was to determine the changes in the ammonia oxidizing communities in agricultural soils irrigated with wastewater for different periods of time (25, 50, and 100 years), and in rainfed soils (never irrigated).
