Surgical stabilisation of distal femoral fractures in calves using a triple pin technique: Twenty-five cases.

Background: The goal of this study was to develop a safe fixation technique for the effective treatment of supracondylar and distal diaphyseal femoral fractures in newborn calves.

Methods: This study included a total of 25 newborn calves diagnosed with supracondylar or distal diaphyseal femoral fractures based on anamnesis and clinical and radiographic examination findings. Operations were performed under intrathecal anaesthesia.

Significance of Angiogenic Growth Factors in Bovine Ocular Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

Bovine ocular squamous cell carcinoma (BOSCC) is the most common and economically significant neoplasm of the eye in cattle. This study investigated the role of angiogenic growth factors in the pathogenesis of BOSCC. Eighteen cases of BOSCC were classified histopathologically according to the degree of differentiation.

Meibomian carcinoma of the eyelid in a Simmental cow.

Objective: To describe the clinical and pathomorphological features of meibomian carcinoma (MC) diagnosed in a Simmental cow.

Material And Methods: A 7-year-old Simmental cow was admitted to the Veterinary Surgery Clinics of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Kafkas, Kars, Turkey. The signalment and anatomical distribution were summarized and focused on pathomorphological description.

Nasal chondrosarcoma in a Simmental cow.

The pathologic features of a nasal chondrosarcoma, a rare tumor of bovines, in a Simmental cow are described. Upon clinical examination, stertor, difficulty in breathing, poor body condition, and a nasal mass were found. Histopathologic examination revealed that the mass was composed mostly of numerous cartilaginous lobules surrounded by spindle-shaped cells, often showing mitotic figures, atypical chondrocytes, and lacunae containing 2 or more cells.
