This study aimed to compare the efficacy of percutaneous microwave ablation therapy (MWAT) and laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) in early-stage renal cell carcinoma (RCC) classified as T1a; a retrospective analysis was conducted on patients treated between January 2017 and November 2023. Oncological outcomes, radiological recurrence, length of stay (LOS), and costs were evaluated. The study included 110 patients, with no significant differences between the two groups regarding residual tumors, local tumor progression, and disease-free survival rates ( > 0.

Article Synopsis
  • Gallium-68 prostate-specific membrane antigen (Ga-PSMA) imaging helps to find out whether prostate cancer has spread or not, which is important for choosing the right treatment.
  • In a study, researchers looked at PET/CT scans of 23 patients to see if their adrenal gland lesions were cancerous or not, finding key differences in test results between the two groups.
  • They discovered that certain measurements could accurately predict whether the adrenal glands had benign (non-cancerous) or metastatic (cancerous) lesions, affecting the patients' survival rates.

Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a common disease, and the placenta shows various functional and morphological changes in these patients. Superb microvascular imaging (SMI) and shear wave elastography (SWE) are innovative ultrasound (US) methods that provide detailed information about tissue vascularization and elasticity.

Purpose: To evaluate placental changes in patients with GDM with SMI and SWE methods.

Objectives: The aim of study was to evaluate the diagnostic utility of the renal parenchyma elasticity with the shear wave elastography (SWE) and microvascularization with the superb microvascular imaging (SMI) technique before kidney biopsy and to predict the complication of hemorrhage before kidney biopsy.

Methods: A total of 75 patients were included in the prospective study. Before the biopsy, vascularity features of the kidney parenchyma in the area to be biopsied were assessed by SMI and parenchymal stiffness by SWE and were examined by 2 independent radiologists.

Purpose: To evaluate early changes after the first antivascular endothelial growth factor injection for macular edema secondary to diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusion and the relationship between longterm outcomes.

Methods: The study enrolled patients who received anti-vascular endothelial growth factor injections for treatment-naive macular edema due to retinal vein occlusion and diabetic retinopathy. The central macular thickness was measured at baseline, post-injection day 1, week 2, and month 1, and at the last visit using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography.
